Chapter 36
Roar picked up Lizzyand set her on the counter. She laughed, grabbing the front of her shirt.
"This shirt wasn't made for being manhandled." Rebuttoning where the top came undone.
He cupped her breasts and settled between her spread knees. "I need to take off."
"You're still here." She looped her arms around his neck, content to have him play with her nipples. "Stay."
"Can't." He lowered his head and rubbed his face in her cleavage. "Can I take these with me?"
She rubbed the shaved part of his head. "That might be a little difficult."
"Mm." He licked the crevice, nibbling his way up to her neck, leaving a love bite. "Where are you going again?"
"To the store to pick up some vegetables and bread, and then I'm going to walk over to the hospital and pay my monthly bill." She tried to hook her ankles behind him, but her legs weren't long enough.
"Can you wait a couple of hours and I'll take you." He straightened. "I don't like you walking around Portland alone."
"I've been doing it since I was eighteen and moved here." She grabbed his shoulders when he slid his hands under her armpits and lifted her off the counter. "You might find it hard to believe, but I have mace on my keychain. I'm perfectly capable of staying safe."
"You need a pistol," he muttered.
"Uh, no, thank you."
He fingered the necklace hanging around her neck. Her stomach warmed. She loved the Slag emblem he'd given her.
"Call me when you get home." He kissed her.
"I will." She squeezed his ass. "Have fun at the clubhouse."
He left the house. Several seconds later, the rumble of a motorcycle vibrated the floor.
She gathered her hair at the base of her neck and tucked the layered front strands behind her ear. She wanted to do her errands before the heat of the day became too warm.
That gave her an hour to get everything done and back home before three o'clock.
"Is it safe to come out of my room?" yelled Coco.
Amusement left over from that morning bubbled out of her, and she said, "Yes, he's gone."
Coco jogged down the stairs. Lizzy tried to hide her grin. Earlier, Roar, used to moving around the clubhouse with other people, had thought nothing of walking out of the bedroom naked—surprising Coco, who was coming out of the bathroom.
To make matters more embarrassing for her friend, Roar had zero qualms about people seeing him naked and had stood there while Coco lectured him about rules of the house. She would've died had she been at the clubhouse, and one of the bikers had seen her naked.
Sliding her phone in the back pocket of her cutoffs, she grabbed her purse and looped the long handle around her neck and let the bag sit on her hip.
Coco glanced at her coming out of the laundry room. "Are you leaving?"
"Yeah, I'm going to hit the store and then walk over to the hospital to pay the bill. Unless it gets too hot and I'll just come home and mail it like normal."
"Hang on five minutes, and I'll take you." Coco headed toward the stairs. "I just need to put my clothes away."
"Are you sure?" She walked to the bottom of the steps. "I don't want you to make an extra trip when I can easily walk there."
"Positive. I planned to go to the store too so we can go together." Coco came out of her room, carrying her shoes. Standing at the top, she slid on both her flip flops. "I also want to swing by the drive-thru and grab a taco salad. I've been craving one all week."
"That does sound good. I'll get one, too."
