"What?"

"Your house. It's been sold and—"

"It doesn't matter." She leaned into him. "If I end up moving five miles, twenty miles away, we'll make it work."

"That won't be the problem." He kissed her forehead. "The club bought the house."

She leaned away from him. "What?"

"Slag Motorcycle Club bought the house."

"I heard that." She shook her head in confusion. "Why?"

"Because you need a house and I need you." He looked over at the door, and then back at her. "I figure it's a good house where we can live together."

"What about Slag, the clubhouse, the bar...?" She held her breath, trying not to get excited before she learned more.

"Nothing changes, except when I go to bed, you will be with me every night." His eyelids fell half-mast in amusement as she exhaled loudly.

She hugged him tightly and as quickly pushed away from him and stood, grabbing his hand and pulling without much success at getting him off the step. "You need to go sleep. You've been out here all night."

"Ja, because my woman was inside not giving me a break and inviting me in."

"You knew...?" She smiled. "I was mad."

The skin at the corners of his eyes crinkled.

"And, hurt," she added.

His amusement died. "I know."

He pushed to his feet, hooked her neck, and brought her close, kissing her forehead. She wound her arms around his middle and gazed up at him, knowing she couldn't share the extra energy she was feeling at the moment. He needed to rest and make up for the loss of sleep he got last night.

"Come in and sleep in my bed," she said.

"I wouldn't get any sleep with you beside me." He kissed her deeply, moaning when he brought it to an end. "Besides, I need to go check on everyone at the clubhouse. I'll crash over there for a couple hours and then see you tonight."

"Yes." She puckered her lips, pecked him once more, and pushed him away. "Make sure you eat, too."

He raised his hand in acknowledgment that he'd heard her last request and walked toward the street. She hugged her middle. The squeal she held inside about to burst, she turned and went into the house to share the great news with Coco.
