Chapter 26

Coco carried a trayloaded with brownies across the street. Lizzy lugged the bag with the five-gallon container of vanilla ice cream against her chest. Her breasts were frozen. Her arms were numb.

"Do you think this is overkill?" Lizzy laughed at the sight of them lugging everything up onto the sidewalk. "It looks like I stole this from Basket and Robbins and I'm making a slow getaway."

"It's going to take a lot to feed them all, and I couldn't just make enough for Roar and Elling and delivered them to the clubhouse. That would've been rude." Coco turned the corner. "I also couldn't think of how else to thank them. Not only for coming and getting me, but bringing my purse back to me this morning. I don't even want to know how they managed to get it from the club or Grant or whoever found it after I had left."

"You're a good person." Lizzy stopped outside the gate.

It took less than a minute for Cody, the prospect, to open up the gate. Lizzy stepped into the alley and spotted Roar walking out of the clubhouse and hurried her steps, happy to see him.

Last night, he and Elling brought Coco into the house and then said their goodbyes, giving her time with Coco to rehash what happened at the nightclub. She was glad to have that time to discuss what had happened on their date.

After all was said and done, she classified Grant as a Class A asshole and a drug addict. Coco deserved so much better.

Roar soaked her in before meeting her eyes. His gaze warmed, melting her insides but doing nothing to help her frozen upper body.

"Hey, you." She tilted her face and puckered her lips, receiving a kiss from him.

"What's all this?" Roar looked in her arms and over at what Coco carried.

"My way of saying thank you to you and Elling. I brought enough for everyone in the club." Coco shrugged, keeping her shoulders high. "I hope that's okay."

"Ja." He rubbed his stomach. "You can put everything in the kitchen. I'll let Elling know you've come to see him."

Coco widened her eyes at Lizzy. She grinned, knowing Coco's thoughts about the man.

"Just be yourself," she whispered, and then followed Roar inside.

Peach and Heather were in the kitchen drinking coffee. Lizzy stepped back, letting Coco enter first. This was her day, and her thank you.

"What have you brought?" Heather turned and wiggled her fingers. "Donuts?"

"Brownies and ice cream." Coco set down the three trays stacked on each other.

"Is it your birthday?" Peace peeked under the foil. "Those look fabulous."

"No. Just a thank you to Roar and, um, Elling, but I brought enough for everyone." Coco took the sack from Lizzy and put it on the counter.

Lizzy rubbed her cold hands together, trying to bring feeling back into them. Warm hands slipped around her from behind. The familiar roughness welcome.

"Fuck, Lizzy." His hands cupped her breasts. "Your tits are frozen."

She laughed, turning in his arms and pressed her chilled breasts against his warm body. "You feel so good."

"Come upstairs." He patted her ass.

"Soon." She kissed him. "I promised Coco I'd stay with her while she thanks Elling."

"I don't think she has a problem doing it on her own." Roar motioned with his chin.

She turned her head and looked over her shoulder. Coco stood close to Elling, talking quietly, and from the body language of Elling, he was more than happy to see her.

Lizzy turned back to Roar. "I'll go upstairs with you."

He grabbed her hand and led her out of the kitchen. In the main room, he yelled at Brage not to disturb him for the next half hour. Lizzy pressed her face against his arm in embarrassment. Everyone was going to know what they planned to do.

But her pre-walk of shame wasn't enough to stop her from going into his room.
