Chapter 2

The skirt stopped underneathLizzy's ass. She turned sideways in the mirror. There was no more give to the spandex. She'd maxed out.

"Coco?" she yelled.

"What?"

"What are you wearing?" She sucked in her stomach, knowing full well it wouldn't make her ass smaller.

"A dress. The black one with the zipper up the front."

Lizzy walked over to the closet. She lacked any kind of clothes fitting for a job interview. Mr. Reeves only required jeans and a decent shirt while working, and she hadn't kept up on her wardrobe. Borrowing anything from Coco would be out of the question. Her friend was five inches taller than her and twenty pounds lighter.

"Can you help me?" She squeezed her fingers under the material and shimmied her hips. If she could get the skirt down more, it would look more professional.

"There's no reason to be nervous." Coco entered the room, stopped at the sight of Lizzy, and said, "Oh."

"Shut your mouth." She squared her shoulders, used to being the butt of the joke, literally, between them.

"I'm not saying anything." Coco laughed. "Turn around."

Moving as instructed, she clenched her ass. "Okay."

"Don't do that." Coco groaned, straining to pull the skirt down. "I don't know how flexing your butt makes it even bigger."

Lizzy sighed, relaxing her whole body. The material moved over the hump of her buttocks. "It's working."

"It'll loosen."

"Thanks." She pulled the waist into place and smoothed her hands down the front of her thighs. "Does it look okay?"

"It looks fabulous. No one would even guess that it took manual labor to get you dressed." Coco raised her gaze. "What shirt are you wearing?"

She pulled two options out of her closet and held them up. Coco pointed to the black and silver threaded sleeveless shirt with no buttons.

Finishing getting dressed, she put on her heels, spritzed perfume on, and grabbed her purse. "You don't think we need a resume, do you?"

"I'm not taking one. The new owner must know we only found out late yesterday that we lost our job. We're applying because we were recommended." Coco walked downstairs with her.

Lizzy inhaled deeply. "Okay, let's go get the jobs."

After locking the door, Coco said, "Remember, smile a lot."

"And, speak slower. Don't mumble," she added.

On the sidewalk, Lizzy grabbed Coco's wrist, stopping her. "Look."

Newspaper covered every window of Burger Bistro. The old sign was taken down off the pole out front. From the outside, there were no workers or construction trucks around to give any sort of hint of what was happening on the inside of the building.

"It all seems too real," she whispered.

"Let's jump into this and think positive." Coco looked left and right for traffic, then proceeded across the street.

Lizzy hurried after her, unused to wearing heels, hoping she wouldn't fall flat on her face. Stepping up on the sidewalk, she slowed. She'd expected to be more nervous.

A new job opportunity.

Learning something new.
