"Positive."

Coco nodded and got called away to one of her tables. Lizzy helped the new customers coming in and went behind the bar to fill up two pitchers of beer.

"How's the birthday going?" Peer carried two bottles over and set them on the counter beside her. "Feeling old?"

"Not yet but ask me again at two o'clock in the morning." Lizzy smiled. "How's your night going?"

He held out his hand and teetered it side to side. "I blew the o-ring on my motorcycle earlier."

"That's bad?"

"It's not good." Peer rubbed his thumb against his index finger.

"Expensive?"

Peer nodded. "I'll be off the road for at least a week."

Knowing how important it was for Slag members to be able to ride, she patted Peer's shoulder. "Sorry."

Peer grunted and moved away to set drinks up on the counter.

She delivered the beers, talked with the customers, and kept up the chatter at the pool table with a group of guys.

Suddenly, Monica and Heather flanked her sides and drew her back, blocking her from the room. She looked into their concerned faces.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"Don't look, but Kelli just walked in." Heather leaned close. "I know for a fact that Roar made Peer send her up to Seattle and told her not to come back here again."

"He did?" She stood on her toes, trying to see over Heather's shoulder. "I was wondering where she'd gone."

"Girl, I don't know why you would care. She punched you for no reason." Monica folded her arms. "Why don't we walk you to the breakroom. You can stay there until Peer makes her go away."

"Don't be silly. This time, I know not to trust her, and I'll pay attention. It'll be okay. I'm not going to let her scare me." She motioned with her chin. "Go ahead and help the customers before they notice the tension."

Peer walked out from behind the counter and took Kelli by the arm, taking her out the front door. Because the bar was unattended, Lizzy took Peer's place as bartender and checked in with all the customers sitting on the stools.

Sooner than she figured, Peer returned, looking none the worse for escorting his old girlfriend out of the building. She glanced at him. He was hard to read.

"Are you okay?" she asked quietly.

"Ja." He poured the man in front of them another drink, though she suspected the guy hadn't ordered one.

"If you'd like to take a break, I can cover for you," she said.

"No need."

"Peer," yelled Kelli, forcing her way into the bar. "You have to listen to me."

"Shit," mumbled Peer, stepping in front of Lizzy. "On second thought, you can—"

"I'm pregnant," screamed Kelli from beside the front door.

Lizzy put her hand on Peer's back. "Go. I've got the bar covered."

He marched across the room and took Kelli outside. Lizzy snapped her gaze to Coco. They both raised their brows at each other. That was news they weren't expecting to hear tonight, and she suspected Peer wasn't either.

Roar burst into the room, looking around, and stopped when his gaze landed on Lizzy. She gave him a quick thumb up. Everything was under control.
