Andy was thankful he’d had his bed delivered before they’d been called out on a mission. It seemed like forever ago that he’d been lying in bed with Mel. Now, he was back in the same position with a few changes.
They hadn’t had sex, and Mel told him they wouldn’t until the doctor gave him the okay. She’d helped him with everything, even showering. It had felt so good having her hands on him. Just thinking about it was making him hard again.
Mel snorted and rolled to her side so she was facing him. He smiled to himself. This was new, and he hadn’t gotten used to her being with him before he’d taken off. Now, having her by his side felt totally natural. He wanted to wake up every morning with her in his bed. Maybe it was too much to ask for. He needed to get to know her better. It would be smart to slow down and not get too involved, but he was knee-deep and wanted to wade out more, to be seeped in her love.
Mel’s eyes fluttered open, and he reached over to touch her, only wincing a little as he moved. She stretched and groaned, then let go of a heavy sigh as she snuggled even closer.
“Good morning,” Mel said as she lifted her hand and cupped his face. “You look good without the beard.”
“Thank you. You look good.”
She rolled away fast and hopped up. “Sorry, gotta go.”
He chuckled as she raced into the bathroom. He gave her a moment before he sat up, regretting his decision to get up. The pain in his head was less, but it still hurt to go from lying down to standing.
Once in the bathroom, he met Mel’s gaze in the mirror. Just seeing her here made his whole body sigh. “Are you going with me today?”
“You bet. I’m not letting you out of my sight until I talk to your doctor.”
Andy chuckled. “If he says we can have sex?—”
She put her hand on his chest and frowned. “We have years to have sex. You’re going to behave.”
Her words wrapped around him like a warm hug. He hadn’t ever dated someone who cared about him. No question, her saying no to sex wasn’t a power play. She really wanted to make sure he was fine. He leaned in and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“I’ll behave. I promise. Right now, I want some breakfast, and then I think we need to go.”
“Sure. Let me figure out what we have for breakfast.”
“Anything is good.”
“Can you have coffee?”
“Yeah. No restrictions on food. No alcohol for a while, which is fine.”
“Cool,” Mel called out as she made her way to the kitchen.
He followed after a moment and took a seat when she shot him a hard stare when he tried to help her fix food. She moved around his kitchen, pulling out plates and utensils.
“Ava and I dropped off food once we knew you were coming home. It’s not a lot, but I wanted to make sure you had something to eat.”
“You’re too kind to me.”
She shook her head. “No, I’m just right.”
She was exactly what he needed. It was weird how well she fit into his life. For a time, dating had been about lust. He’d gone out with women who fit a certain look. Those interactions had always left him dissatisfied. Maybe it was just him, but there hadn’t been a connection with those women. He got off and would want them gone as fast as possible. During those interactions, he’d learned a lot about sex and how women responded to touch. He’d also been used by a few of the women. At one point, he’d learned that women were passing around his name along with his penis size. His first reaction had been to take the sex and not worry about why they wanted him, but then he realized how they were using him. Maturity had ruined sex for him when it was with a woman who only wanted to experience his dick and not him. He wanted to tell them to just go buy a vibrator.
“You okay?” Mel asked.
“Yeah, just thinking.”
“About what?”
“I have very strong feelings for you, Mel. I don’t want to scare you away by moving fast. I don’t know what it is, but there’s this connection I felt when we first met. I can’t explain it.”
She nodded. “I’ve felt it, too. It’s like a string was tied when you first looked at me, and it’s still there, holding me to you.”
He couldn’t believe she’d voiced exactly what he felt. He was tied to her, and he didn’t want it to break away. Maybe they were moving too fast, and the thing tying them together would break, but he hoped they would make it.
