She needed to feel him and was ready when he moved between her legs and lined up, rubbing the tip of his cock over her pussy. They’d talked in depth about their health and how she was on birth control while they’d been abstaining from sex, and both of them had agreed that condoms weren’t necessary. It felt so good to have Andy’s bare cock sliding over her entrance.

“Are you ready?” Andy asked.

“Yes, please,” she begged.

Andy slid in, and she gasped. It felt so good to have him in her again. She held on, never wanting to let him go. He didn’t last long, which was good because she could see the exhaustion on his face when he pulled out and dropped to the mattress. She rolled to her side and went up on her elbow as she stared down at his face.

“That was good.”

He scoffed. “I couldn’t last.”

“It’s been a while since we’ve had sex like that. Sure, I’ve blown you a few times, but nothing that active.”

He opened his eyes and met her gaze. “I never want to go that long without having sex again. It was too long.”

“It was, but it was necessary. I don’t want you overdoing it. You’re too important.”

“I love you.”

“And I’ve fallen in love with you.” She hugged him close and held on for a long moment before sitting up. “I’m glad you’re better.”

"Me, too. Getting injured sucked. I'm ready to go on missions again, but I know it will be a while before I'm back on a full-time team."

“You’ll get there. I have faith. If you need anything from me, I’m here to help you.”

His smile warmed her. “Thank you. It means a lot that you care that much.”

She kissed him before she got up and headed into the bathroom. Spreading her grandparents’ ashes was weighing heavily on her. When her parents had asked her if she’d done the task a few years ago, she said she’d completed the job. She shouldn’t have lied and didn’t normally tell fibs like that, but she hadn’t wanted to be a failure in their eyes. Now, it seemed like she would actually get the job done. It was one more reason she loved Andy. He really was a good guy and helped her with things that needed to be accomplished. Now, she just had to figure out how to make a relationship work.

Chapter 23

The next morning, they woke early and were at the marina waiting for Peach. He arrived two minutes later with Harry and Rory. They all hugged her and slapped Andy on the back before heading over to the boat.

Peach pointed at the boat. “I came out last night to get it ready.”

Mel patted Peach on the back. “Wow, thank you so much.”

Peach flashed her a smile. “I love being out here. It’s relaxing.”

Andy shook his head. “You should have called. I could have helped.”

Peach waved him off. “We need you to rest. The last thing I needed was you doing too much and getting put on ice for even longer.”

Andy grunted. “I hate not being on a team.”

“I get it,” Harry said as he moved to help Peach cast off.

Rory sat next to Mel. “I’m glad we could come along on this. Do you have a speech, or do you want it filmed?”

Guilt filled Mel. "Gosh, no. I should have done this a while back, like a few years ago, but life was complicated, and I was working so much, and I didn't know anyone who had a boat. I feel so guilty. My parents think I already did this. I've been such a bad daughter."

Rory put her hand on Mel’s arm. “I’m sure they wouldn’t be mad. They didn’t do it either. Instead, they passed it off to you.”

Mel shrugged. “I told them I would be happy to do it when they gave me the task.”

“Doing funerals or ceremonies for fallen friends and loved ones is difficult. When friends died in the service, and they didn’t have someone else to plan the funeral like the person’s parents, it was very difficult for the service members who had to plan something. I mean, I know military services are already planned. I’m not talking about that part. I mean the friends celebrating their lives either after or before the service. It was stressful for them. So, I’m saying this to remind you not to beat yourself up. Doing a ceremony for your grandparents is a huge ask.”

She nodded. “I should have done it before. It just felt so weird hiring someone to escort me out here so I could dump the ashes of my grandparents. Plus, money was tight.”
