He kisses me and my body heats. I want to fuck him right now. I want to climb over him and take him inside me until I can’t tell where I end and he begins.
But he pulls away.
“Can I take you somewhere?”
“Where?”
“It’s a surprise. But I want to take you somewhere this morning.”
“We have time before work? I still need to take Cerberus home and get dressed.”
“Bring Cerberus to work. I can keep an eye on him while you’re busy.”
I roll my eyes. “And clothes?”
“You keep your work clothes at Blue Vista. So just grab one of my shirts and you’ll be fine.”
“You really like me wearing your clothes.”
“I really do. It’s like I have my name written all over you.” He kisses me again. “Let’s go.”
So we get up and gather what we need. Daze gave us dog food for Cerberus, so I bring that and we leave. We start along the Seawall but then turn and walk away from the water. We don’t speak as we walk, but I glance at Spencer a few times, wondering what we’re doing and where we’re going. It only takes us ten minutes before we stop at a familiar building.
“What’s this? Are we here for another showing?” It’s the building with the first place we’d looked at together. Seems like so long ago that we’d looked at it.
“Not exactly.”
He lets us in and we ride the elevator up to the tenth floor where he unlocks a door and leads me and Cerberus inside.
It’s empty except for a few boxes in the kitchen. He moves into it and points to the coffee maker.
“I can make you a cup of coffee. But it’ll have to be black. I have no cream or sugar.”
I look around the apartment. “Is this… yours?”
“Yeah. I got it a couple days ago.”
“You bought a condo? And didn’t tell anyone?”
“Vic knows. But yeah. I didn’t tell anyone else. I got a short closing, so it’s only been a couple weeks.”
I turn away from the windows that had drawn my attention and find him standing in the kitchen.
“This is amazing, Spencer. I’m so happy for you.” I go to him, wrapping my arms around his waist. “This is where you were the other night. Vic said you didn’t come home.”
He nods. “I’ve ordered some furniture, but there are a few things I’d love your input on. Like pots and pans. Knives. That kind of thing. Maybe we can go shopping next week?”
My smile widens. “I’d love that.”
He kisses me, drawing me tighter against him. And my mind swirls. He bought a place. He’d told me, ages ago, that his dream was to have a wife and kids. And buying a place is the first step in that dream. Suddenly, I’m more nervous about how long it’s taken me to get here. I want to be the wife of that dream. I want to be the mother of those kids.
Daze was right. I have fallen in love with this man. I just needed to admit it to myself. And now that I have, I need to admit it to him. It’s already waited long enough.
“I love you, Spencer,” I whisper, but I find I’m not nervous about saying it. I’ve never felt more sure of something in my life.
He closes his eyes and presses his forehead against mine. “You have no idea how many times I’ve almost said that to you.”
“Really?”
