“I don’t care,” I told him, my head tossing back and forth as I chased the ending he promised.
He laughed with a groan as I clamped down on him and increased the friction for us both. “I’ll remind you of that in just a few minutes.”
I couldn’t process his words, not while he worked my body like it had been his all along. Every thrust in and out hitting that bundle of nerves inside me. His fingers reached around, pinching my clit as he demanded, “Come for me now, Rhowyn.”
And I did. Stars littered my eyesight as we flew over the edge together, my core squeezing him tightly. His groan told me he had followed me over, his release emptying inside me as he throbbed almost like he was swelling from the intensity. He leaned over, biting me hard over my heart at the swell of my breast. That fierce marking, the claim he was staking on my body, sent me straight into another orgasm.
Holy fucking shit! I didn’t know a bite could do that but sign me up to do that shit again. I lay there, floating for a moment, certain Callum’s cock had only gotten larger inside of me as the tremors from our combined orgasms threatened to send me over the edge again.
He rolled over, taking me with him as he lay on his back, our sweat-slicked skin sliding against each other. After a moment of lying with my head on his shoulder, I could feel his seed starting to leak out of me and decided I should probably clean myself off. Pushing up, I tried to separate my body from his but was stopped as a tugging sensation inside of me kept me in place and sent me over into another fucking orgasm. I cried out at the pleasure that coursed through me so suddenly, riding out the wave of ecstasy as it crashed over me.
“What the fuck?” I panted out when it finally released me from its hold, letting my head break above the waves for blessed oxygen. I collapsed on his chest again, resting my head over his heart, his own heart racing as more cum leaked down our legs, where we were still joined. “What was that?”
He laughed then, the motion pulling at the anchor inside me and making me moan in exhausted desire, threatening to send me over into another orgasm. “That’s the thing I wanted to tell you.”
I pushed up with my forearms resting on his broad chest, puzzled. “The thing with Autumn males who can shift, especially those whose primary affinity is for wolves, we bite our mates, which triggers the knotting.”
“The what?” I asked him, still puzzled, my brain fuzzy from the multiple orgasms that had shaken my world.
“When we mate, we knot,” he said, smiling indulgently at my confusion.
“But that didn’t happen with Lennox?”
He laughed again, causing me to moan as his knot tugged inside of me before I whimpered. “He isn’t my mate.”
“So, you’re saying I’m stuck here because you’ve knotted inside me? I’m now your mate, and each time you move, I’m going to orgasm?” My voice rose an octave as reality sank in. As if in demonstration of the point, he thrust forward and tried to pull back. The knot hit me again and caused us to both see stars as we came again.
“Just when I thought my life couldn’t get more hectic,” I said to the universe that seemed to be plotting against me after we’d both plummeted back to earth and reality.
“Awe, Trouble. It could be worse.” His arms wrapped around me as I settled into him to wait for his knot to release us, his tone teasing.
“How could it be worse?” I asked, my eyes drifting closed as I basked in the afterglow and warmth of his body.
“I could be knotted in your ass.”
Chapter Nineteen: Rhowyn
Apparently while I was waiting for Callum’s knot to release, I had fallen asleep. Between the physical, magical, and mental exertion, I was exhausted. As I stretched in the bed I found a warm body, my hand grazing along bare skin. Opening my eyes, I studied Lennox’s lithe frame and naked chest. Not the man I had gone to bed with, but still a pleasant way to wake up all the same.
I still couldn’t believe they were all back with me, that Avalonia’s errands for me were over, and Lennox had gotten to me in time. A few minutes later and I knew for certain that my magic would have burned me up completely. Reaching out a hand, I ran it along Lennox’s face gently, tracing his brow, cheek, and lips, studying his unburned skin that was now healed. A hand snaked out and pulled me closer to him, tugging me down into a kiss without ever opening his eyes. Smiling through the kiss, I pulled back, thankful for him and the others.
“I love you, Princess, but now is the time to sleep. Of course, if you need any assistance with that, I’d be more than happy to help.” Still, his eyes remained closed, a clear indication of how tired he was despite the playful note in his voice.
I started to lean forward to kiss him again, planning to take him up on his offer, but a knocking at the door sounded out. Lennox grumbled under his breath, something about rude and inconsiderate people, causing me to smile as I went to answer the door. Pulling on a tunic that had been left on the floor, most likely by Lennox, I didn’t feel the need for pants. The tunic was so large on me, even with my gained height, that it could have doubled as a dress, covering all the necessary bits. Swinging the door wide, expecting to find one of the other guys on the other side, I was pleasantly surprised by who actually stood there.
“Aurelia,” I greeted Callum’s sister, moving forward to give her a hug. Six months ago, I hadn’t been the hugging type, but after everything, I’d become reliant on them for my own sanity. “Everything okay?”
She laughed, instantly putting me at ease. “I came to let you know that we will be hosting a dinner tonight for you to meet some of your people and to celebrate your arrival. That, and to thank you for saving Aspen and Liam. I thought they were secured when I’d left the other children, but that child takes after my brother, never listening to anyone but her own sense of adventure and stubbornness.”
I blushed at the reminder and praise. “It was nothing. I’d have done the same for any of them, and I’m just thankful she was able to get away. Her friend seemed determined to save her despite the risk, and she should be grateful to have such a friend in her life.”
“Which is why you are different, and we’re so thankful for your arrival. Besides, there are times when I wished she would listen to him just a little more. He’s got a better head on his shoulders, but he’s yet to be able to tame the wildness in that little one.” Aurelia smiled at me.
“Thank you for the invitation, but I don’t really have anything to wear,” I admitted to her, knowing for certain that showing up to a dinner meant to honor me while in dirty leathers wasn’t appropriate.
“Nonsense, I’m having some gowns brought here, and I thought I’d help with your hair and makeup.” It was her turn to blush. “Callum admitted to me that you weren’t well versed in those things, and I thought it was the least I could do.”
“You don’t have to do that,” I protested, embarrassed at my shortcomings. “I’m sure I can manage on my own. Besides, you have plenty of other things more important than helping me get ready for tonight.”
