Caleb’s mouth thinned into a straight line. “I was too frightened to try to reach out to you. I was afraid you couldn’t respond.” A shudder ran through his large frame. “We couldn’t go fast because of Loki, and the closer we got, the more worried I became about what I’d find.”

Seth dared to reach up and stroke his mate’s cheek. “I’m sorry.”

Clasping his hand, Caleb pressed a kiss on the palm. “It was unavoidable. I was such an idiot believing that I could mate with you and sire your pups and still keep my heart out of it all. I think I must have fallen in love with you the first time I saw you.”

Seth’s heart skipped at hearing the declaration. “You don’t have to say that.”

“Oh, sweetheart. I’m saying it because it’s true. I’ve had time to think about it, and remember how I was able to heal you with my saliva? Andrea said that’s a biological thing that happens when shifters mate. The only thing that makes sense is that my heart already belonged to you. My brain just needed to catch up.”

It was almost terrifying to accept his mate’s words. “You love me?”

By way of answer, Caleb bent down and fused their lips. He took Seth in a slow, languid kiss that caused Seth’s cock to rise. With a chuckle, Caleb cuddled him close. “I know you will, and we’re going to go see Andrea now, and I’m going to take care of you exactly the way she tells me to. And if—only if—she gives me the go-ahead, then we can maybe pick up where we left off.”

“Oh!” Seth threw both arms around his mate and showered his neck with quick kisses. “I love you, Caleb. And when it comes to what’s best for me and our pups, I trust you. I only ask that you trust me, as well.”

Caleb stopped Seth’s barrage of kisses, by clasping his face and giving him a quick one on the lips. “I do trust you, my little feral omega. And, we’re going to make the best life possible. We’ll face our problems together, and I know now that I’m not like my sire. I’m never going to run from our problems. Whenever things get tough, know that I’m sticking. I’ll always be by your side.”

“I won’t run away, either. I’m done with running, Caleb. This is where I want to be. You are where I want to be.”

He spoke the words and meant them. He’d finally found his home.

Epilogue

“When can I look?”

“Soon. We’re almost there.” Caleb kept his hand over his mate’s eyes, feeling a little foolish and a lot nervous. Romantic gestures were so not his thing. Yet, he really wanted to pull this one off for Seth’s sake.

Guiding him over the low threshold, he removed his hand. “Okay, you can open your eyes now.” He took a silent deep breath and held it as he waited for his mate’s reaction.

Seth didn’t say anything for a few very long seconds as his gaze roamed the tiny shed. Then he turned and flung his arms around Caleb’s neck.

“Oh, it’s wonderful!”

Returning the hug, although not too tightly, he let out his breath. “You really like it?”

“I love it.” Seth punctuated his response by giving Caleb a hard kiss on the lips. “I can’t believe you went to all this trouble.”

Caleb flushed with pride. “It’s no big deal. Will helped with most of it.”

Seth rolled his eyes. “But it was your idea, right?”

“Well, yeah. I figured given that the cave is now being used by Destin and his boys, this shed has become our ‘place’. It has meaning to me anyway. This is where we mated and I mounted you for the first time. It’s where our pup was conceived. I didn’t want to give it up.”

Seth turned and leaned against Caleb’s chest. “It has the same meaning for me. It’s so homey now.”
