I scan through everyone here today, and my eyes fill with tears with so much love for each and every one of them. These are not just my friends; this is my family.
A soft sob, or laugh, I can’t tell which one, leaves my mouth, and I turn to see Saint smiling down at me.
I look at Saxon on my other side, who pulls me into a hug, whispering, “Happy birthday,” in my ear. I give him a quick kiss on the cheek and turn back to Saint, wiping my eyes at the same time. When I turn, I look up, expecting to see Saint’s handsome smile, but I’m confused when I see him below me. He’s on his knee, and as if my heart couldn’t feel any fuller, he says to me, “Sage Wilder, will you marry me?” A gasp is all I hear. The room has suddenly become painfully silent. No more cheering, no more “happy birthdays,” just the sound of my breathing, and the pounding of my heart. I can’t speak. The only word I manage to get out is “Saint.” That’s all he needs to hear. He lifts me up into his arms, spinning me around as I hold on to his neck, smiling and laughing down at this beautiful man who stole not only my heart, but my entire soul. The room erupts in applause as he stops spinning us, and I can finally kiss the man I will spend the rest of my life with.
“I love you, Sage Wilder.”
“I love you too, Saint.”
“So, is that a, yes?” he asks with a sheepish grin.
“Of course, it’s a yes!”
