It was definitely a memory that she wouldn’t be forgetting anytime soon.
Even the vicious healed scar that he’d gotten saving them a couple of days ago made her realize one thing.
This was her future.
Him.
Because she could, Calyx moved up his body, enjoying the playground that was going to be hers for the rest of her life. There was no way she was letting him go now. She’d gotten her happily ever after, and he was not leaving her behind.
Dipping her finger in some paint, she wrote on his chest.
‘Mine.’
It said it all.
This was her soulmate, and the man who would fill her life with nothing but joy and happiness.
They might never have a family, but they had each other.
She had no doubt that he’d be an amazing partner in and out of bed. They had so much to discuss, like what her role would be in his world as a Hunter.
She wanted to fit in.
She NEEDED to fit in.
As he slowly opened his eyes, Remmy found Calyx staring down into his face, and she was watching him with so much love and adoration.
Looking down at his chest, he saw the word she’d written there, and he grinned.
It made his heart skip.
“I have never loved you more,” he admitted. “I thought that I would lose Karen and Kelsey if I fell in love again, Calyx, but I haven’t. I still have them in me. I can still honor their love, and know that you won’t run from that.”
She touched his cheek.
Oh, her silly man.
She’d never begrudge him the people he loved before her and lost.
Ever.
“I will love them with you. Because of their deaths, I get life. We get life, Remmy. Let’s live for them. Let’s let them live in OUR lives.”
God.
Yes.
“Every day, I’m blessed that I found you,” she admitted. “How could I live without you, Remington?” she asked, being honest with him. “How could I wake up each day and not have you in my world. I’d have nothing. I’d be lonely and broken.”
That was the absolute truth.
Not that long ago, she was lost.
He found her and made her feel again. Honestly, she’d believed all men were the scum of the earth, and there was no honor left in them.
Not this one.
He was most definitely her white knight.
