Before her, he never believed it was going to happen. Remmy never thought someone could love all of him like Calyx did.
But she did.
Someone was a lucky, lucky man. This woman, whether she knew it or not, had saved him from the fires of the personal hell he’d been trapped in.
“I love you, Calyx. Forever.”
She nuzzled him.
“Same, Remington. Same,” she said, enjoying his flesh against hers, but she knew there was something she’d enjoy even more.
HIM.
When he least expected it, that’s when she struck. She bit him hard on the neck, and his legs went weak. They dropped to the floor.
Immediately, he knew what he craved.
Her immortalized.
“Like I said, I want to paint you. Let me,” he practically begged.
Remmy needed to be able to look at that painting and know that it was made in love and heat, not rage and icy cold anger.
She lifted a brow.
“Now? Instead of sex? Because I’m thinking sex would be a lot more fun,” she admitted, making him laugh.
He couldn’t love her more.
It was clear that she didn’t understand what he was suggesting.
So, he explained.
“No, us, together, on this canvas. Then, we can hang it over a fireplace, and it’ll be our little secret what it is. I don’t want to paint pain anymore, Calyx. I want to see what love looks like.”
His words were both cathartic and painful. This poor man had been through so much.
She wanted to offer him this.
He’d given her so much, and Remmy deserved it.
“Absolutely. What do we do?”
“We get naked, which we’ve already done, and then, we each pick two colors.”
She paused.
“Have you ever done this with anyone else?” she asked, hoping not. “Because I’m pretty sure if there’s a canvas in here with another woman’s tit smears, I’m tossing it out.”
That made him laugh.
“I was celibate since the death of Karen and Kelsey. You’re the one I broke my fast with. Remember?”
Oh, yeah.
He kissed the tip of Calyx’s nose and tried to explain to her.
“I began painting to find something to stop that anger. You are that magical thing that has saved me. I can promise you that this will forever be all ours. It’s the one thing I can give you that no one else has.”
