“He’ll be very careful.”
Ethan wasn’t done.
“But ultimately, he will fall for it. He’s going to want to possess you more than protect himself. His ego will supersede his need to be safe.”
Because he didn’t like this, Jax spoke up.
“If he puts his hands on you…,” Jax warned.
She reassured him.
“I’ll be okay.”
Oh, he hoped so. These so-called Spiders had better do their goddamn job.
Maura was curious.
“Are you going to be able to handle him? You can’t freeze up. You need to be able to disarm him if he’s carrying, and take him down. He can’t escape.”
She hoped she could.
Only, she had to stay positive.
“I will. I’ll know the exact moment when I can take him.”
Then, it was settled.
Maura looked over at Elizabeth.
“Pull the trigger.”
It appeared they were putting it all on red and giving it a spin.
“Okay, well, I need to make a call,” Elizabeth said.
It was time to recall two Spiders, and get their buddies available.
Heading over to Matrix, she did what needed to be done.
“MATE, call Reaper.”
When the call went through, his face appeared on the screen. It appeared he was laying low in Chartres as he was having a sandwich.
Someone was comfy.
“Yo, LaRue. What’s up?”
“I need you to abandon that mission. It’s time to play mercenary, and back up someone as they take on Alexsandr. We have a way to get to him, but I need backup he won’t spot.”
He grinned.
“You had me at mercenary? What’s the deal?”
Elizabeth explained.
“We’re going to set up a date with the ONE who got away. Your job is to make sure he doesn’t slip away with her and go under.”
“Wolf and I can do that.”
