They all nodded.

Not only that, but Maura was excited. If this actually worked, they just had to lure him out, and hope to God he didn’t think it was a trap.

“And number two?” she asked.

“If he gets me, and you see him taking me away as in he’s escaping, you kill me. You put a bullet in me. Don’t let him get me. You have access to Spiders, and I want at least one of them on me just in case. I don’t want anyone here responsible for killing me,” she said, looking over at Jinx. “We’re family now.”

They understood that.

“What he will do to me will be so much worse than death. He’s sick, and he will have me bound, raped, and tortured for the rest of my existence. He won’t let me succumb to it. He’s a master of torture—thus, the name Black Butcher. Imagine how bad he is to make all of the Russians in Boston betray Greyson. I’d rather die. I’ve lived his hell once. Promise me.”

Jagger didn’t like this.

Maura either.

“We can’t kill you,” she said. “We’re more a rescue you kind of team.”

She stood her ground.

“Then, I can’t help you. I won’t. I want your word as Marines, and your promise to me. There can be no rescue later. You put a Spider on me, and if it looks like it’s going South, you put me down.”

Heath moved closer.

“If they can’t, I’ll do it for you, Aly. I’ll do it for your sister,” he said, hugging her.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

“Thank you. I can’t relive that. He’s a monster. Please don’t let him do it to me again, Heath.”

He cuddled her against his big body.

In that moment, Heath protected his family.

“You get her a Spider, or it’s not happening,” he said, glancing over at Elizabeth. “If it was you, wouldn’t you want a kill switch?”

That was all he had to say.

She nodded.

“I’ll do what needs to be done to keep that promise,” she said.

Jinx moved closer. She hugged her too.

“You’re my family since Nikita is my family. I won’t let him get you, but if for some reason he does, I’ll keep your wishes. I know you don’t want one of us to break and not be able to carry through, but I will for you.”

She wiped her eyes.

From where she stood, Elizabeth knew what they needed to do.

“We have to be very careful with this one. We can’t risk her. I’m not watching a woman lose her brains in a building.”

Maura knew they needed to be very careful.

“We don’t know what he knows about this file,” she said. “This could be the hard copy, and she could have given him a verbal update.”

Now, Elizabeth was kinda wishing she didn’t poke the bear. This was one of those things where it would have been easier if he didn’t feel like a trapped animal.

“I’ll do what I can to help,” Elizabeth offered.
