Somehow, he didn’t think that was meant to be reassuring. Okay, maybe he did follow Aly around a whole lot, and she did trip on him.

Before anyone could say anything, Maura got ready to update the family, but she needed something first.

“Zayn, I need a favor.”

He lifted a brow.

“What?”

She went there.

“Keep your goddamn mouth shut.”

He stared at her in surprise.

“Where did that come from?” he asked, a little caught off guard. “Why are you asking me to do that?”

She explained.

“Elizabeth is likely going to call in at some point, or pop up making you look like a dick. There’s your warning not to do it.”

Now, he got it.

He actually laughed.

“Thanks for the heads-up. I owe you one, Major,” he said.

Then, she delivered the bad news.

“Boone went with Dimitri and Heath, and they encountered Reaper.”

That was all she had to say.

They knew that wasn’t good.

“Uh-oh,” Remmy said. “He doesn’t come out unless there’s a situation.”

She was well aware.

“Apparently, two assassins showed up at Chartres. Alexsandr knows where we live.”

Dimitri pointed out one thing so they were all on the same page.

“Where he goes, his assassins go. It’s rare he sends them out before him, but then again, it might have been easier to get them here first to test the route.”

They glanced over at Merry.

They needed to know which it was because one bought them time, and the other meant time was up.

“Has anyone used that airport in the last couple of days?” Maura asked.
