What was this?

That blindsided her that he’d do something so old-fashioned and antiquated.

Yet, sweet and amazing.

She blinked.

“He what?”

Greyson explained.

“He came to me and told me he plans on marrying you. He’s just waiting for you to be ready. He’s chosen you, Aly, and now, you have to decide if he’s the one. I will say this. If you don’t want the same thing, set him free. He deserves to find a woman who will love him like he loves you.”

Oh, his words…

They made her irrationally jealous. The mere thought of him with someone else…

“I don’t like that idea at all.”

He laughed.

“Oh, really? I wonder if that’s why I said it, so you’d figure that out and wake up. He’s waiting for you. Ajax won’t force you since he knows your past. He is offering up that option so you don’t feel like he took your free-will away.”

She understood now.

“Point made, Father.”

Greyson was honest.

“You can trust him. I wouldn’t lie to you. I told him he had my blessing to marry you, Aly. I wouldn’t do that if I didn’t think he was the best guy for you. Now, you have to decide if you think he’s the best guy too.”

She let that sink in.

That he’d protect her, looking out for her, meant a lot to Alyona. That was new and something she had never had before in her life.

“I understand what you’re saying.”

Greyson reassured her.

“Aly, he loves you, and you love him. At some point, you’re going to have to trust. He’s not Alexsandr, and he’s not the bad guy. He’s the white knight and you need him. Jax won’t hurt you.”

Being the blunt Russian she was, Aly pointed out one thing.

“That’s an antiquated trope.”

He laughed.

“Raise strong, independent women, they said. It will be fun, they said. It’s tough, and not as fun as you’d think.”

She snorted.

“I blame Mom.”

Greyson was amused.

“As do I, Aly. As do I. What are you going to do?” he asked, not sure if he’d gotten through to her. Again, Russians were tough.

He’d gone head-to-head with Dimitri for many a round, and it always ended one way.
