The man gasped.
“Uh, do they look like crypts to you?” Ian asked, his eyes picking them up first.
“Yep.”
That was all it took.
Ian moved back and stood against Gryphen’s chest to feel safe. This was NOT what he was expecting to find down here.
Without hesitating, Gryphen wrapped his arm tightly around him, so he felt treasured.
Never let it be said that this man wasn’t his protective Gryphen.
He absolutely was.
As for the crypt, Gryphen looked around. He could see where there used to be a wrought iron gate that closed this room in to keep it secure.
“Hey! It looks like this castle comes with a sepulcher,” Gryphen said, entertained by that considering who owned it.
Why wasn’t he surprised?
“Bodies in the castle?” Ian asked.
Gryphen pointed something out.
“What’s more Blackhawk than that?” he asked. “We’ve had bodies on the gate, bodies in the morgue, bodies in a tree…”
Okay, he had a point.
This did fit the Blackhawk world.
Ian laughed.
“Someone liked to keep to the theme,” Ian said, holding out his hand.
Gryphen gave him a low five.
That amused Ian.
“That was more so I could have your phone. Are you insane?” he asked, as Gryphen willingly handed it to him.
“Yeah, to be down here with the crypts.”
Ian had learned one thing from Elizabeth. It wasn’t the dead you had to worry about.
It was the living every single time.
As he used the phone to scan the area, Ian felt a cold breeze, like it was kissing his hand.
It sent chills across his body.
Yeah, that was creepy.
“Don’t fall into the crypts,” Gryphen said. “That is NOT my idea of a fun vacation.”
Ian’s either.
Moving closer, he directed the light onto them. That’s when he saw some paper in the bottom of one.
