That was going to be hot.
Shirtless?
Oh, well, someone was having one hell of a fantasy about a sexy one-legged Marine, and he wasn’t sorry. This was his Christmas vacation gift, and apparently, his hot new boyfriend.
Yeah, a lot had changed in a day.
That was for damn sure.
“Mr. Carter and Mr. Patterson?” the man asked with a thick Scottish accent as he approached them on the tarmac.
Gryphen had seen him waiting by the sleek black limo that, oddly, had Blackhawk plates, and Gryphen immediately knew that he was going to be their driver.
That was…weird.
Did the family have a residence here?
They didn’t mention that, but if there was a car, there was a home.
Right?
He greeted the man, and again, Gryphen was protecting Ian as best he could. He was behaving like a paranoid Marine who had taken shots to the back of his body armor just a few hours ago. He had the bruises to prove it.
“Yes, that’s us.”
The man explained.
“I’m your driver, and it’s a wee trip to the location, so let me get you there. Mr. James mentioned that you’re to do this lowkey, so please, hop into the vehicle before the media gets some long-range lenses on their cameras and takes your pictures.”
That was the last thing they wanted.
Honestly, Gryphen felt naked without a gun.
What wouldn’t he give to have one?
Getting into a strange car was not a thing he liked to do, but the sun was rising, and he didn’t like them being out in the open without protection.
He wasn’t allowed to bring his gun here because of the laws, and to a Marine, accustomed to wearing a side arm, this just sucked.
Yeah, he felt out of place.
“Thank you,” he said, as they headed toward the limo. When the man opened the door, they ducked in and got comfortable.
Their driver peeked inside to talk to them.
“I’m Graham Lainey, and I’ll get you there safely. If you need me to stop for anything…”
Gryphen needed to regroup, do some recon, and see where they were before anyone was wandering around or stopping to see the sights.
“We’re good. Just get us there.”
Graham nodded and without another word, he closed the door.
When he got back inside behind the wheel, the window between them was closed, and they had privacy.
Because they were alone, Ian yawned, and Gryphen had that overwhelming need to take care of him.
“Why don’t you put your head in my lap?” Gryphen offered.
