Tori smiled.
Yeah, that sounded like her bestie.
Hang up on her?
Oh, that was always a really bad idea.
“Why did she just tell me she was going to get on a plane and come here to make me weep blood and shit out my internal organs because I’m allowing my detectives to hold people without their rights being read to them, and their phones taken away?”
Tori tried to raise her hands.
“That’s why I suggested you unhandcuff us. Because of that,” Tori said, smiling brightly. “Someone’s ass is grass,” she said.
Lucian did not like seeing his wife in handcuffs.
Okay, that was a lie. He loved his wife in handcuffs, in the privacy of their bedroom.
This was not that.
So, he handled it.
“I’m their attorney. Your police detectives have detained innocent women and denied them of their rights! This is illegal!”
“Lucian,” Tori said. “Detective Manning has warned him repetitively. He doesn’t like women. She tried to help us,” she said, saving the woman.
And Genesis looked grateful.
When Jon Wilkes stood, Ridge took over.
“We’re filing a lawsuit against this police department,” he said. “I am partnered with Littlemoon Inc, and I speak for the main owner, her husband. We’re filing ASAP.”
The captain looked pissed.
Oh, and worried.
“They found a body!” Jon said. “They knew about there being three victims! They have to be up to their eyeballs in this!”
The captain pointed at him.
“SIT!” he said.
The man did.
Then, he focused on the women.
“Can we de-escalate this? I’m Captain Joe Ivy, and I really don’t want to see it come to this. I profusely apologize for my one detective’s actions.”
Lucian motioned toward the cuffed women.
“How about you start with unhandcuffing my clients?” he asked. “You know since they are innocent.”
“Do it,” the captain hissed, not playing around.
Oh, that killed the detective.
They could tell.
Only, what was he going to do? Defy his boss in front of him?
