“THEY. CALLED. THE. POLICE. THEY. EXPECTED. TO. JUST. HAND. IT. OVER. THE. COP. FOUND. OUT. TORI. IS. A. PI. AND. THEY. ARE. LOCKED. UP.”

He paused.

There was no way he was hearing this correctly.

“What?” Julian and Bodhi asked at the same time since it shocked them.

“What do you mean?” Julian asked.

“HE. IS. HOLDING. THEM. AT. THE. STATION. HE. HATES. WOMEN. HE. DOESN’T. BELIEVE. BISHOP. IS. A. COP. THEY. DON’T. HAVE. THEIR. PHONES.”

Julian was shocked.

“And he’s not arresting them, but just holding?” he asked.

“YES.”

That was all kinds of wrong.

Even people who were arrested were entitled to a phone call. That was their right.

Yep.

This was bad.

There was no doubt that this was because of their jobs and notoriety.

Well, that wasn’t happening.

Julian knew what he needed to do.

“Trey, go get Lucian. Wake him up, and get him here. Do you understand?”

He was more than happy to help.

“Maybe you shouldn’t try to block me out…”

Julian pointed.

“Fine. I understand,” Trey said, walking through the wall to leave. It was clear that Julian wasn’t in the mood.

“Go on, Bethany, and explain. Take a minute to calm down.”

Bodhi watched Julian talking to absolutely nothing. Yeah, this whole thing was insane.

“Do you need a hug?”

She nodded.

Out of all the dead, Julian was fondest of Bethany. She was a good ghost.

Most of the time.

As long as you didn’t make her angry, you were safe. You didn’t want a hundred-year-old dead woman going poltergeist on you. She walked like the ghosts in movies, all hunched over and scary as shit.

That was a nightmare right there.

Accepting his offer, she ran at Julian. Once there, she moved against him, needing a hug, or to feel some warmth. It was clear she was worried.
