They could tell he was toiling away over something.
“What?” Lucian said. “That should make you happy and you’re struggling.”
“Let us help you, Jules,” Ridge said. “We’re your partners in this, and you need us.”
That he did.
Julian went there.
“Did I do the right thing letting her have the job?” he asked. “Because my whole family rides on this, and I’m scared I’m going to lose this business. My family relies on this income to stay afloat. We’re not wealthy. We’re Natives from a rez.”
Ridge reassured him.
“We went into the static after the meeting with Lianna to get a feel for what’s coming.”
Julian took that seriously.
He knew that Lucian’s gift was no joke.
The man was powerful—possibly the most powerful psychic.
“And?”
He shared.
“She would have died there,” Lucian said. “The man, and I use that term lightly, was going to kill her next time. This has been a progression. Her husband was going to end her life. Lianna coming here is the path to her survival. So, yes. You did the right thing. You saved her. Like this business saved so many other people, it is going to keep her alive. It gives her hope.”
That made Julian sick and brought tears to his eyes. The thought of what she’d endured, and never reached out to them broke his heart.
“God. I wish I could get my hands on him.”
They knew he would do it too.
Connor already wanted to load up, drive there, ambush the man, and bury the body before anyone knew. The man was out on bail, ironically, and they’d like to make him look like he skipped bond.
Yeah, the oldest Littlemoon didn’t play when it came to his family. He wanted blood for his sister.
Lianna made shit choices, but she was still their little sister.
“Had she not come here, and you gave her stability, she would have gone back out of desperation. You’re saving her for those two kids. Be reassured by that. You just have to find a way to reach Claire. If you do, it’ll all be good. Lianna’s true soulmate is coming, and she’ll be ready.”
He closed his eyes.
The only problem was, he didn’t think Claire would ever forgive her.
EVER.
“Only, her happiness comes at the cost of my other sister. I’m in a bad situation here.”
Yes, he was, but he could do it.
“You just have to get her to understand,” Ridge said.
He laughed sardonically.
Yeah, well, that was easier said than done.
“Only, Claire sees this as a betrayal. She sees this as us picking sides, and we aren’t. We love them both. There is no reason to destroy a family over a man—especially since she got Beckett in the deal. He’s the best guy in the world, and he’s madly, stupidly in love with Claire.”
