He was a man.

The fence between the homes would be coming down shortly, even if he and Ridge had to tear it down themselves.

After that, a new pool would be going in, and there was going to be a man cave/mediation room where Ridge and Lucian could go to be alone to go into the static when they felt that pull.

Oh, and they felt that pull constantly.

Life for all of them was perfect, and they were moving forward as a cohesive unit.

Even Genesis was happily moved into her new apartment, getting ready to take the test to be a PI.

She had a new partner, and where they thought that being paired up with Anders was going to be bad, it turned out to be the perfect match.

No one saw it coming.

Apparently, he reminded her of her dad, and the two had hit it off spectacularly. They laughed together, worked like a well-oiled machine, and had a bond right off the bat.

It was about time everything went right.

They’d earned it.

Now, as they were getting ready to leave in a week to watch Bodhi and Hailey get hitched, it was about handling some last-minute work things.

Like his partner.

Lucian was in his office, and he could hear Ridge calling to him. The need was off the charts, and that meant only one thing.

The man he, also, loved was close and needed him. It was about that time of the day where they took a mid-day lunch break in the static.

Just to be together.

With each time they went into the static, the bonds grew, and they learned what they could do as a couple.

They were able to use the static to protect their family from what would likely be coming for them.

Oh, and they knew it was heading their way. Oracle didn’t make mistakes, and if she was warning them, Lucian knew to stay alert.

Death could come at any moment, and they needed to be wary.

On top of offering them protection, it fueled their souls.

Literally.

The afternoon nooner in the static helped them refocus on this plane.

The bottom line was that Ridge was more than his best friend.

They were a couple of sorts.

Over the last three weeks, the wives adjusted, and no one in the family was any the wiser about what happened. Trey had been bribed to keep his mouth shut, and he was more than happy to take the gambling credits and run.

The two men were carrying on their love affair in the static, and finding that it only made them love their wives even more.

It was a good life.

For both of them.

It was surreal and odd leading that ‘double’ life, but it was what it was, and in the static, anything was possible.
