Bishop turned off her phone.

Lucian didn’t get angry. Instead, he only laughed. Trey had to be Trey. There would be no changing that.

Because they were accustomed to it, they ignored where he was taking that.

“Go get the killer,” he said, slapping her on the ass. “Make sure you do the agency proud, Bish.”

“I will, my love,” she admitted, heading out to do just that.

When she was gone, Lucian took a seat and closed his eyes, calming himself. Whenever his wife was working, he worried. Now, he was carrying a brutal load.

For Oracle.

He was hoping it wasn’t going to be Bishop who was in danger.

He’d lose his mind.

It wasn’t until he felt someone behind him that he focused on that energy, and it was very familiar.

In fact, it called to him.

Before he saw him, he knew who it would be.

Ridge.

“Are you hiding in a church?” Ridge asked his friend.

That made him laugh.

“No. Are you sneaking up on a man who knows where you are at all times of the day?”

“I felt you calling to me. You needed me. Are you upset?” Ridge asked, sitting beside him.

As soon as they did, they both felt it. Their souls calmed down and reconnected when their legs touched.

Being apart for too long was difficult.

That small connection helped.

“I’m good. My wife asked about what happened in the static,” Lucian admitted.

“Mine doesn’t want to know. She said what happens there stays there.”

“Maybe that’s for the best. I didn’t go into specifics. I don’t think she really wanted to know. I think she just wanted to be reassured.”

He understood that.

“Are we still going to live by each other?” Ridge asked.

When his phone chimed, Lucian pulled it out before he answered the man. It was from Raven.

‘Are you both okay? One doesn’t do sex magick with someone they aren’t in a relationship with and walk away from it. If you feel any side effects, I suggest you go into the static immediately. I’m working on a way to undo it. Only, I don’t think there is a way to do that. If I find one, what do you want me to do?’

He thought about it, and then, he showed Ridge what their family witch had sent.

Ridge read it.

Then, he handed it back.
