“What?” Julian asked his wife.
“I have a plan.”
Those were famous last words in their business—especially if Tori said them.
Well, Julian couldn’t wait to hear this.
“What?” Bishop asked as she was pulling the woman up, and then cuffing her to the seat in the waiting room so they could talk.
Tori pulled them aside for privacy.
“We want to set a trap to catch a rat, right?” she asked.
They all nodded.
“Let’s stir the pot. If this is about someone framing Cyrus, or he’s behind this, we can put the pressure on. Someone might come out of the woodwork to see the melee as it goes down.”
Bishop got it.
“The media. You want to switch the script?”
Tori nodded.
“Right now, he’s all over the media. If he’s innocent, let’s put the pressure on him. He’ll talk because he’ll want to clear his name. If we can get him into a room with Genesis, she can truth test him. If he didn’t kill Marny, and didn’t implement this attack on Jennie, he’ll come forward.”
The cop grinned.
“I bet I know what will get his attention,” Genesis admitted. “What if we parade Brooklyn into the office, have the media on her, and report that a woman who was attacked in the park survived. That woman is going to give us information on who killed all those women.”
She nodded.
“If Cyrus is not involved, he should be showing up. We give it a few hours, and if not, we pull him in with the circumstantial evidence we have. Either way, we get him in the office. He’ll want to clear his name, and he might give us something.”
Julian laughed.
“It’s a double trap. If he’s innocent, he’ll talk to Genesis, and if he’s not, he’ll still have to talk to her.”
She nodded.
“We’ll just see which way this goes.”
Genesis liked the odds on that.
“I’ll make sure the media knows that the woman I’m bringing in was one of Cyrus’ mistresses. That will be a headline all over the news.”
They were aware.
Lucian laughed.
“You cops get mean when you’re provoked,” he admitted.
Genesis gave Bishop a fist bump.
It was the truth.
She winked at the woman she genuinely liked and who was good at what she did. Jon Wilkes had greatly underestimated his partner, and now, she was going to make a good asset for Littlemoon Investigations.
For sure.
