Lucian sighed.

“I’m concerned.”

“About?” he asked.

“Us.”

Ridge was genuinely curious. He could tell Lucian was struggling. His energy was off.

“You can just say it. I’m in your head.”

Lucian was well aware.

They were in close quarters, and their energy was connected.

“I don’t want you to feel like you’re being used for physical pleasure and to find answers in the static and nothing else. What happened between us mattered. It just can’t happen here.”

Ridge could hear Lucian’s worry.

“I’m not going to be upset, Lucian. We both know what happened between us can’t happen on this plane. It would hurt our wives, and break up both of our marriages. We have to be two different people, like Oracle said. There is static Lucian and Ridge, and this real-life Lucian and Ridge.”

He glanced over.

“I loved every second of being with you. It was meaningful, and I am glad I was able to experience it with you. I will never regret it. You matter to me. Next to my wife and Cassia, you’re the most important person in my life. I love you, Ridge.”

Ridge put his hand on Lucian’s thigh.

His words made him happy.

They made him elated.

“I know what happened and what it means. I love you, too, Lucian. I’m happy that we got to have this together. Would I pursue that here? If I was single and you were single, yes. I’m not going to pretend that I’m not physically attracted to you or that it’s bleeding over from the static. I absolutely am. Only, here, my heart belongs to Wynter. I made vows, and so did you. In the static, my heart is forever yours. Our wives don’t exist there, and it’s just us. It will always be us there.”

He was glad he felt that way.

Because he did too.

“I still feel bad,” he admitted. “Are we cheating?” Lucian asked.

And there it was.

“No. We’re not because we told the women about it. We also aren’t forging a new love and taking that from them. They both know how we feel, and that we both love them. This is more like us having a special something that is exclusive of them. It doesn’t detract from what I feel for Wynter. I love her so much that I could weep from the emotions of it.”

He took that in.

“What about you? Can you have both worlds, Lucian, and be content?” Ridge asked.

He thought about it.

“I have to have both worlds. They are me. It’s my mind, so that’s part of me. What happened is as much me as when I make love to my wife. It doesn’t take away from what I feel for Bishop. I love her so damn much. I just happen to be able to love two people.”

He leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“Then we can have our moments in the static. If the wives aren’t complaining, and when mine reached out about the pickup, she wasn’t worried. She understands.”

He was so grateful.

Lucian needed this connection with him. Going into the static with the man, and enjoying that carnal journey deeper into the static strengthened their connection.
