“The Goddess will take what she wants, and a life will be ended. Nothing is for free. There is a price for everything.”
Bishop walked toward them.
“I’m waking them.”
He stopped her.
That could do something just as bad. They were mid-walk. It was too late. They were already connected on that plane, and would be forever.
“Bishop, do you trust me?” he asked.
She did.
“Raven, if I lose either one of them, I won’t survive that kind of loss.”
He understood.
“Neither will I because they are my friends. Let me dream walk with them. I can hear them and feel them. Think of it as peeping. Normally, I wouldn’t, but in this case, they need a witch to keep them safe.”
He sat inside the circle, and watched the men stay in the lotus position for meditation. They reached for each other to hold hands.
This was his way in.
He took one of each of their hands, and closed his eyes.
Now, it was time to keep them safe.
And when they came out, scold them for going where they were not trained to go.
This was, after all, his area of expertise.
Meanwhile…
As they slipped into the static, it was chaos. For a brief few minutes, Lucian really believed they’d made a huge mistake. The voices were so overwhelming that he felt like he couldn’t focus.
He felt as if he was being pulled down.
It was heavy.
It was thick.
He felt like he was sinking.
From beside him, he could feel Ridge, but not see him. The man was struggling to tune for him.
It was just too much.
Then, like a miracle, he came into focus.
“God, I couldn’t reach you,” Ridge said, reaching for him and taking his hand.
They immediately felt it.
There was that audible click of them making that connection.
That heat rose up, and the static went crazy. Sensing that need, Ridge moved closer to Lucian, and made sure his body was next to his.
He felt so damn much.
