“Uh, Lucian needs to see me. I guess you guys are going to have to do this interview alone. I hope he’s not having some aftereffects from the static.”

Tori hoped not.

“Don’t worry, Bish. He’ll be okay.”

Bishop hoped.

If anything happened to Lucian, she wouldn’t be okay.

He was the love of her life.

Chapter Eighteen

Hotel

Late Saturday

Afternoon

W hen they arrived, Bishop excused herself, heading for the elevator, leaving Tori and Genesis to ask around about Marny, and find anything they knew about the woman’s personal life.

Already, they were suspecting that she was approached by Cyrus at the hotel.

This seemed to be a hotbed of bad behavior.

Within the massive lobby, there was the steakhouse, the gentlemen’s club, and the front desk. They had three out of four of the victims who worked in this area.

Someone had a hunting ground.

At the front desk, there was a petite woman, and she had red eyes.

“Are you okay?” Tori asked as they stood there, waiting to begin asking questions.

She nodded.

“Yeah, we got some bad news. One of our co-workers was killed yesterday. I’m sorry,” she said, sniffling and standing taller. “What can I do for you?” she asked.

Well, since she brought up her friend.

Genesis pulled her badge out.

“Yeah, we’re actually investigating her death. Marny, right?” she asked.

The woman started crying again.

“How about we go sit down?” Tori asked. “The weather is shit, and no one seems to be checking in.”

She nodded, and they led her to the couch not far away. When they sat, she wiped her eyes.

“We warned her,” she said.

They let her talk.

“She was supposed to marry this good guy. He was sweet, kind, and loved her. She met that guy, and then he deflowered her.”

Tori lifted a brow.

“Pardon?”
