They had families.
“That terrified me,” Lucian said.
“I’m not losing you. If we have to abstain there, I’ll work on getting stronger. You heard her. It takes practice. We made it out without anything happening. I can find a way. Just don’t leave me. We’re bonded now. I won’t make it without touching you,” he admitted, as they both stared at their joined hands. “I feel calm now.”
Lucian couldn’t lose him either, and he was right. The feelings weren’t overwhelming him.
“We’ll get through it, Ridge. I promise.”
Ridge enjoyed that contact. It was love here.
Not sexual.
He touched his cheek, and ran his fingers over his defined cheekbones as he stared into his eye.
“I know. About earlier.”
Lucian could still feel everything.
“I’m sorry I pulled away,” Lucian said, wanting him to know he was better now.
He was also thinking about what came next.
Could he and Ridge have sex in their minds? What would happen if they did? Would their wives understand this wasn’t so much about just having sex, as using the energy it created to propel them deeper into the static.
Lucian had a million questions.
But first, they had to heal that hurt.
“I won’t ever pull away again. I was caught off guard because as my wife pointed out, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed kissing you out here. I won’t pretend I didn’t, but it didn’t feel like it did in the static.”
That was for damn sure. He wasn’t feeling turned on or particularly horny.
Confused.
He was confused.
Ridge understood.
“I love you, Lucian. Am I sexually attracted to you? Absolutely. We spend most of our time almost naked as we connect our auras. That’s intimate. If I wasn’t married and into women, I’d be into you. Maybe that’s why it’s so overwhelming in the static for me. There, my mind doesn’t have to worry about control. I can just feel.”
Lucian wasn’t surprised.
He could tell by the way Ridge looked at him, but before they bonded, he could feel the chemistry binding them together.
Now, there was only calm.
You are two different people. One here, and one in there. There are no wives in the static. The psychic realm has only spirits. When you die, you don’t have a spouse. You make soul bonds.
Lucian only focused on the man.
He felt the need to love him, but not in a psychical way. This man was his tuner and now his anchor.
Like with the dead, strong psychics needed one to pull them from the static.
It appeared this man was it.
With tenderness, Lucian brushed some hair from Ridge’s forehead.
