Lucian was nervous, and that rarely happened to him. After years of being a State Attorney General, and facing down the worst of the worst, it was not common for him to have butterflies.
But he did now.
As he stood in the doorway, watching Ridge work on the couch in the sitting area, he was scared. He could feel the man’s emotions, and that bonding that happened, somehow, was likely the cause.
They were tied together.
And he was petrified.
The man was upset with him, and Lucian’s whole world was turned upside down. He was dealing with all kinds of emotions, stress, and fear that both of them now had.
What happened between them…
It had the potential to destroy their relationship, and he didn’t want that.
The man was tied to him now, and what if he didn’t want to have that albatross around his neck?
Did he take his freewill away?
He had so many questions as to how they were now going to work through this. Before, he’d reached for Avalon, and she explained that the bonding was with the person with the stronger psychic abilities.
Bishop didn’t have any.
But Ridge…
God.
He did.
Now, they were intrinsically tied together and would need each other to use their gifts. He couldn’t do what he did without him.
His gift was in Ridge’s hands.
As he stood there, it was clear that Ridge knew he was there. That attachment went both ways.
“What can I help you with?” he asked with very little emotion in his voice.
Oh, God.
This was bad.
Ridge was a whirl of so many feelings. It was chaotic and scattered.
“Can we talk?” Lucian asked. “Or are you busy?”
Ridge didn’t look up. He was doing paperwork, and trying to avoid looking at him.
Clearly.
