The cop behind the wheel didn’t settle for that answer, and went there.
“That was a lie,” Genesis said. “A big one.”
Bishop glanced over at her.
“Hey! Maybe keep your lie detector off,” Bishop said. “It’s private.”
Then, she changed the subject.
“Can we get a coffee? I’m running on E. It’s been a long morning already.”
Tori reached back and pulled off Bishop’s sunglasses. As soon as she did, she saw the worry in her eyes.
“There will be no coffee until you tell us what happened?”
Bishop said nothing.
That was all it took.
“Pull over, Genesis. Someone’s going to need an interrogation.”
Bishop sighed.
“Uh, I’m fine,” she admitted.
Genesis did what Tori asked since she was going to be her boss. Besides, she could feel the tension in the car. Bishop was stirred up.
“Come on,” Bishop said. “Is this necessary?”
Tori wasn’t relenting.
“Yes. The dead are feeling the energy. Spill it.”
Bishop rolled her eyes.
“You know that you have an HR department, and I’m going to call Julian up and file a complaint about a nosey person he employs.”
Tori knew who likely was well aware what had gone down. He popped between his besties and her often. She’d get him to spill it, even though she told him to behave.
“TREY!”
The radio came to life in the car, proving he was ready.
“Why is Bishop bitchy?” Tori asked.
He didn’t miss a beat, proving he was aware of what went down.
“SHE. IS. WORRIED. ABOUT. HER. HUSBAND. THEY. HAD. ROUGH. SEX. AND. EL. DIABLO. MADE. OUT. WITH. RIDGE. IT. WAS. MAN. ON. MAN. ON. WOMAN.”
She gasped.
“TREY! You’re an asshole! That is not what happened!” she said.
The dial spun.
“SHE. CONTROLS. JULIAN. I. HAVE. TO. OBEY. I’M. ENSLAVED. HELP.”
Tori turned the radio off. She heard enough.
