Page 249 of Icy Cold Death

Genesis looked around and was curious.

“Can you see the dead woman?” she asked. “I’d like to ask her some questions.”

Tori scanned. Not far away, sitting on a rock as she watched it all go down, Marny was crying and mourning her death as Trey was still trying to comfort her.

“Yeah, she’s over here. Let’s go get information before I have to cross her. The light isn’t that far away.”

“Thanks!”

They headed that way, and Tori took over.

“Hey, Marny. This is Genesis. She’s going to find who killed you. She has a few questions and I’m going to be her spirit translator. Can you help her?”

The dead woman nodded.

“Sure.”

Tori glanced over.

“Just ask. I’ll tell you what she says. She’s newly dead, and hasn’t learned how to utilize electronics yet,” she explained.

Well, that made this more difficult but she was desperate.

“Did you know the man you were sleeping with was married?” Genesis asked.

The dead woman nodded.

“Yes. He told me that he was married when she called once and we were together. He told me that she was a pain in his ass.”

She was flickering between death and life states. The difference was a horrible tension in her face that made her look perpetually terrified.

She told the detective what the dead woman answered.

“So why did you keep seeing him?” Genesis asked.

There was no hesitation.

“He said he was leaving her. They weren’t happy, and he was getting a divorce.”

Tori shared the answer.

Genesis kept going.

“Do you think he’d hurt her?” she asked.

That time, she did hesitate.

“I don’t know,” Marny said. “She didn’t know about me, and he said she was too self-absorbed to notice anything but the things she enjoyed doing. I can’t answer that.”

Tori translated the information.

Genesis kept trying.

“Why did you come here?” she asked, even though she’d mentioned that already.

Yeah, this was the weirdest interview of her life—that was for damn sure.

“We were going to have a picnic and spend time together today.”
