And no one moved.

With her arms now free, somehow, Bishop held her husband.

He was above her, and he was out cold. Lucian was definitely not awake.

“Ridge? Are you okay?” she whispered, her whole being feeling completely drained.

Now she knew how they felt coming out of the static. It was so brutal.

It took him a second.

“I think so. I’m going to have to explain this to Wynter though,” he said. “I think I just had sex with someone else, but I’m not sure.”

Ridge rolled to his side.

He was still in his pants, but there was a wet spot forming on the front of them.

He also felt weird.

It was as if invisible bonds now tied him to Lucian. He needed to touch him, so he put his hand on his arm to connect him.

“Are you hurt, Bish?” he asked, concerned for the woman.

She shook her head as she was pinned beneath Lucian. Her hands were moving up and down his back.

“You shouldn’t have come in here,” she said.

Ridge was still shaking off the energy. It was covering him, and it was thick in the room.

“He called me. I could hear his fear, and I had to come to him. I’m sorry I walked in on you two. This should probably be mortifying. Only, I didn’t see anything. It was like I could only focus on him.”

There was that soft trickle of laughter.

Goddamn it.

“Do you know who Oracle is?” she asked.

Ridge nodded.

“Lucian and I have no secrets,” he said. “We’re connected, and share everything on that plane. The static kinda rolls everything together and mushes it all up. Your thoughts mostly go into the collective unless you can keep them buried deep.”

“She said she was helping him open his third eye permanently like hers.”

Ridge blinked.

That sounded…dangerous.

“I’m touching him, and I can hear the voices,” he admitted. “We aren’t in the static, but I can still hear them coming from him. I shouldn’t. I think this opened my third eye too.”

Uh-oh.

Lucian, you’re scaring Bishop. I need you to wake up. You’re scaring me too. How can I communicate like this with you?

Ridge moved closer to Lucian, so they were touching even more. Immediately, that touch made Lucian move, and his eyes popped open.

It was clear that he heard him.

“Ridge.”
