“No. Everyone who works for us is amazing. We’re a family, and we don’t burn each other. I’m not going to lie to you. It’s challenging work, but it’s worth it.”

She considered.

“Is this where I get to negotiate?” she asked.

“Sure.”

Genesis smiled.

“Do I get my own sick dead dude to talk to all day?” she asked. “You know. A Trey?”

The radio went nuts.

Tori rolled her eyes.

“Here we go,” she said, knowing if he was called out, he was showing up to the party. So much for him being quiet.

She wasn’t wrong.

“I. DON’T. KNOW. HOW. TO. DEAL. WITH. THIS. SOMEONE. WANTS. ME. AROUND. NEXT. SHE’LL. TELL. ME. I. CAN. DRIVE.”

Genesis lifted a brow.

“They can drive? So I get a chauffeur?” she asked.

Tori laughed.

“They are NOT allowed to drive. Under no circumstance are you to ever let Trey drive a car that you’re in. He’s a menace.”

The radio was not amused.

“SPEAKING. OF. KILLING. JOY. MY. SISTER. HAS. ENTERED. THE. CHAT.”

Tori laughed.

“I’m kinda curious to see him drive though,” Genesis admitted.

Bishop shook her head as did Tori.

“You’re an enigma, Detective.”

“It’s Genie, or Genesis. I’m not a fan of formalities like titles. I’m a simple woman, Tori. You’ll find that out. I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.”

That worked for her. Julian would shit his britches to get another Hart in-house. The man was invaluable.

“Okay, then, you’re hired,” she said, pulling out her phone and finding the new hire packet. “What’s your email? You can go over this later, and give it back to me.”

She rattled it off.

The whole time, Bishop sat there and knew what was going to happen.

“Julian is going to lose his nut.”

Tori didn’t care.

“Didn’t he tell me that we needed to hire more people? Didn’t he say he liked psychics for the job? Well, here we go. She’s clearly psychic. I’m doing what he said. I’m following his directive.”

Bishop knew the man was still going to lose it. He liked to be in control, and this was definitely not him controlling his runaway wife.
