That didn’t sound like Bishop.

“Are you upset?”

She didn’t lie.

“Yes.”

Immediately, a million things came crashing in on him and the biggest one was if he hurt his wife.

Yeah, now, he was worried.

“I meant what I said. I won’t do it again if this upset you, Bish.”

She stared at him.

“Not regarding you, Lucian. I’m afraid of what can happen in the static. What if you don’t make it out?” she asked. “What if you lose Ridge? What if…?”

She had so many questions.

Oh, he didn’t want her to worry.

For him, he was getting ready for what was coming. He’d willingly die for his wife.

He lifted her chin, and found her mouth with his. The kiss was sweet, gentle, and shared what he felt for her.

When he broke it, he was honest.

“Then, when I die, I wait for you. I’ll wait for you forever, Bishop. You are my world, and nothing will replace you. If you want to know what happened, I’ll be honest with you.”

She considered it.

The phone in her pocket came to life.

“DID. YOU, GIVE. OR. RECEIVE?” Trey asked without any hesitation.

Bishop gasped.

“Trey!”

The dead man wasn’t giving up.

“SORRY. INQUIRING. MINDS. NEED. TO. KNOW. I. SAY. GIVE. YOU’RE. MORE. THE. TOP. SOMEONE. LIKES. RICHARD.”

Lucian didn’t flinch.

Why?

He was good with what happened in his head. If things were different, he and Ridge might have a relationship here, but they both found love, and that mattered.

Bishop defended her husband.

“Trey! Go away or I’m calling Raven to come exorcise you to the great beyond!”

That seemed to work.

The phone stopped, but since it was brought up, she was kind of curious. He was her husband.

“Do you want to tell me?” she asked.
