Genesis pulled out her phone.

“Give me a few. It’s likely going to move fast. If he’s not involved, he’s going to fall right into this pitfall.”

Tori was aware.

It was eight o’clock, and she was betting by ten, the man would be all over them.

“We’ll meet you at your precinct,” Bishop said. “By morning, if he doesn’t appear on his own, we should be able to get a warrant to talk to the man. That will mean he’s guilty as sin, and avoiding us. I know someone who can pull a favor to get that warrant.”

They looked at Tori.

Oh, hell.

She knew where this was going.

“What?” she asked, hoping that they weren’t going to suggest that she call the woman at this time of night to ask for help.

It was later on the East Coast.

Bishop went there.

“Can you call Elizabeth and see if she can lean on the DA? Get Cyrus in for a talk if he doesn’t show up?”

She laughed.

“Do you want me to die? She’s my best friend, but if you wake her, she’s mean. If you interrupt her on a day off or when she’s on a husband, it’s lethal.”

They stared at her.

No one was backing down.

Crap.

Tori sighed.

“I can try. She likes making people antsy. That might save our asses.”

Bishop knew Tori would try.

“Do it. We have to have our bases covered. This might take all night.”

Then, she focused on Genesis.

They were far enough away from Brooklyn that she couldn’t hear them.

Thankfully.

“Go ahead and text your source with the media that you’re bringing in one of Cyrus’ side pieces. I bet we can make this town go crazy.”

Genesis was grateful that they were getting somewhere. She wanted to prove a point to her partner and boss.

They were going to lock this case down. There was no doubt about that. Now, this was what partners were supposed to be like.

“I like you, Bishop. You’re all about a scandal.”

She snorted.

“I try.”
