As someone who habitually watched his health because of his heart issues, anytime someone said cake, he was hard pressed not to have some.
The last time he had cake, it was him and Hailey on her couch, celebrating his birthday.
That was one of his fondest memories.
“This is an amazing gift. We’re lucky,” Bodhi said, tucking Hailey under his arm.
She smiled.
“Bring on the cake, Jennie. I’m in the mood for something sweet.”
Since the woman was in front of them, she grabbed Bodhi’s ass when she was sure no one could see it.
Her fiancé stared down at her.
“Behave,” he whispered as Jennie walked them toward a table set up in the middle of the room.
“I can’t help it. My husband-to-be is sexy,” she said, winking at him.
God.
Life couldn’t get any better.
As they reached the table, Jennie showed them where to sit.
“I’m going to go get the cakes. You can taste them, and decide what you’re in the mood for on the big day.”
That sounded perfect.
As the woman left, Hailey’s phone came to life.
“I. LIKE. CHOCOLATE,” Jake said. “THAT’S. THE. BEST. FLAVOR. FOR. A. CAKE.”
Honestly, Hailey didn’t care what Jake wanted.
This was hers and Bodhi’s wedding. This was about them. She had to let Jake go, and she had. Ironically, he was still lingering.
“We’re going to taste all of the cakes, Jake. Then, Bodhi and I are going to pick. This isn’t your wedding,” she said, putting down boundaries.
Bodhi said nothing, and she understood.
They’d had an altercation, and the man wasn’t really a fan of the supernatural.
He was a scientist to his core.
“BODY. WILL. LET. ME. PICK,” Jake said.
Hailey laughed for a few reasons.
First was the fact that Bodhi wasn’t an easy name to find on a radio, and secondly, that Jake thought there would be three people in this marriage.
There wouldn’t be.
“No, Bodhi will not let you pick,” she said.
They didn’t get to continue the conversation. A bunch of cakes were put in front of them, and Jennie gave them space to taste and make up their mind.
“We can have chocolate,” Bodhi offered, not wanting to rock the boat.
