“YOU. JUST. WANT. TO. MEET. ME,” Trey said. “THE. LADIES. LOVE. A SOLDIER.”
Tori rolled her eyes.
“There’s my brother and his healthy ego,” she said as they began moving toward entrance to this clearing where they left their skis.
“So we know who they were meeting,” Tori said. “Our suspicions were right. Cyrus Lawley was cheating on his wife with those three women.”
“And she’s missing?” Genesis asked. “That doesn’t look good for him. He’s got to be the killer. Who else would kill all of the man’s side pieces?” she asked.
Tori knew.
“A jealous boyfriend or a jealous girlfriend, perhaps. We have the hunting ground for victims at the hotel and then where Cyrus worked. Maybe something connects. Maybe someone hates Cyrus. Men talk. He could have told someone he worked with he was having multiple women, or he poached a friend’s lady.”
That was true.
“It would be so easy if the dead could tell us who killed them.”
Tori laughed as she snapped back into her skis.
“I’m aware, but that seldom happens. The dead are traumatized. They rarely give us anything helpful at first. Like with birth, dying is chaotic. For now, we still have to dig. Now, we know Cyrus has a possible motive. He is a lawyer with a powerful father-in-law. He’s at the top of the list.”
For his sake, they hoped that Cyrus wasn’t involved. If it came to light, his law career would be over, and the man on the state supreme court would make sure of that.
“We need to check out where they went into the water,” Genesis said. “Maybe Jessamy Lawley went in there too. Can we head there and maybe you do your thing and see if you can find her?”
“We can,” Tori admitted. “I’m curious too.”
Genesis paused.
“Do you want to go get Bishop? We said we’d come back and get her.”
Tori glanced at her watch.
“We’ll hit the park without her, and then get her. She’s with Lucian. I’m sure she’s busy.”
Genesis laughed.
“Like I’ve said already…he’s incredibly attractive, but then again, so is Bishop.”
Tori was aware.
As they started skiing down, they were side by side, and Tori knew one thing.
She liked this woman.
There was something calming about Genesis. She oozed this serenity. It was kind of like when she was around Lucian and Ridge.
There had to be something about her aura.
At the bottom of the ski slope, they headed into the lodge, and checked their skis back in with the rental. Then, they headed to the car parked outside.
It was starting to flurry.
“It’s supposed to really snow tonight,” Genesis admitted. “We’re talking a good foot of snow.”
Tori hoped that if it snowed, they didn’t get stuck. With the dead, and still a missing woman, she really wanted to see if she could find Jessamy Lawley.
The last thing the woman deserved was to be alone and lost.
