She was glad the tunnel appeared. Granted, it was in random locations, but it was always near some bodies.

The last thing they needed was that kind of scavenger hunt.

“Go ahead,” Bethany said. “Go to the light and go home.”

They looked skeptical.

“But it’s on the water,” Aimee admitted.

Trey reassured them.

“You won’t fall in. You’re already dead.”

The women looked at him and Bethany.

“Can you walk us there?” they asked.

Trey shook his head.

“No. If we get too close, we’ll want to cross into the light, and we have work here. We have very important jobs. I have to make sure my sister is safe, and her children too.”

Tori let the dead talk.

Sometimes, they were the best ones for the job.

“Are you sure?” Keri asked.

Bethany nodded.

“Trust us. You’ll be okay. Just head toward the light, and you’ll hear family members waiting for you on the other side. You’ll be perfect again.”

The three women held hands.

Tori just watched and waited, patiently.

They began moving toward the light.

Then, it hit her.

“Wait! Before you go, can you tell me if there a fourth woman here with you?” she asked. “Have you seen anyone else?”

Keri turned.

“No. It was just us. Maybe the other person is at the water in the park where we were killed.”

Maybe.

It appeared the scavenger hunt was going to continue. They needed to find all the victims to make sure someone paid for their crimes.

The women kept going, and before they knew it, they were moving into the light. Tori saw shadows in the bright glowing light, and knew they’d be family.

That was three more dead women who were set free.

When the light closed, Tori looked over at the detective to share what went down. She told her, and Genesis sighed.

“I wish I could see that.”

Tori’s phone came to life.
