“I was scared for her. Our boss called the police when she was a no-show. I went to her apartment, and she wasn’t there. She didn’t drive, and took public transportation or a taxi, but her phone and purse weren’t there. That was the last time I saw her.”

Bexley did what she was trained to do. She needed to get more information.

“Was anyone giving her a difficult time?” she asked. “You know, maybe someone who worked here or came here?” she asked. The bartender was in the back of her mind, and she wanted to see if this waitress had seen something.

She shared.

“I mean, we have men from the strip club that come over and act ridiculously, but nothing that stands out. She would have told me if someone was bothering her.”

Raven knew that Tori had found out that the bartender was dating the stripper, so he went there.

“What about Bill at the bar? Did he and Tiff have a connection?”

She thought about it.

“I don’t know,” she said, “Only because we’re not really allowed to date co-workers. You know how companies are.”

No, they didn’t.

The Littlemoons liked when you were a couple. Then, you had more skin in the game and always had your partner’s back.

“I wish I could give you more, but honestly, we were friends, but not that close. We just hung out at work, and maybe to get our nails done or waxed.”

Bexley got it.

The interview was over.

“Thank you, Jana, for all of your help.”

She was curious.

“Did someone hurt her?” she asked. “Because there was no way she was walking away from Mr. L. She told me that he treated her like a queen, and that some other ladies were jealous. Honestly, I didn’t think anything of it.”

Well, from the look of it, they could tell why.

The man was Casanova-ing all over the damn place. Maybe one of the women he was shacking up with didn’t like that idea. Bexley just wished that Jana confirmed it was Cyrus, and not just given them his last name’s initial. Oh, they knew it was likely him, but they needed more.

“Yeah, someone hurt her, but the police will find out who. We’re helping them investigate it.”

She stood, and she was back in work-mode.

“I’ll go get your food,” she said, abruptly.

Before she could leave, Bexley pulled out a card.

“If you hear or think of anything, can you give me a call?” she asked. “For your friend?”

She took it and nodded.

“I will.”

The woman headed away, and they said nothing until she brought their food back, and then left.

“What do you think?” she asked Raven as he was eating his pasta.

He sighed.

“I think that a man balancing multiple women has more than one problem. The lawyer’s name is Cyrus Lawley, he’s loaded, and this guy went by Mr. L. I doubt that’s a coincidence. I just wish we could have gotten more.”
