The dial spun, but nothing more was said.

They headed toward an elevator, Genesis had gotten quiet, and in their world that meant curiosity was about to strike.

“What’s on your mind?” Tori asked, pushing the button to their floor.

Well, since she brought it up…

“Can I ask a question?”

They got into the elevator.

“Sure,” Tori said.

She went there.

“Why is a bestselling author working for you guys. I’ve read a few of her books. She’s pretty popular.”

Tori clued her in.

“Let’s just say that she didn’t like the fame. She still writes, but now, it’s on her terms. Her last book was the one she was writing when she met her fiancé.”

She shook her head.

“And that’s where I’ve seen him before,” she said. “I saw him outside the station, and I thought I knew him. I just couldn’t place him.”

“He had no shirt on when you saw him on the cover,” Bishop said. “And we’ve all read that book. Don’t ask Raven if he’s the hero in the book. He blushes.”

She grinned.

“Good advice. I won’t piss off your witch.”

Honestly, they weren’t sure if it was possible to anger Raven. He was pretty laid back. As long as Bexley was safe, he was chill.

As the elevator came to a stop on their floor, they headed toward Bexley’s door. When they knocked, it didn’t take long for her to answer.

When she did, she was calm.

“You were meditating,” Tori said, feeling the energy coming off of her.

Well, it was that or sex. Raven tended to ooze that calming.

Bex confirmed it.

“Yeah, I was starting to get too exuberant, and it was making it difficult for Raven to research, so we meditated. Then, we went back to work.”

Tori figured as much.

Bex and Raven were on opposite sides of the spectrum. He was calm, and she was like that battery operated bunny that never stopped.

“Raven is inside, and he’s feeling off,” she admitted.

Tori lifted a brow as they were invited inside.

“He said the energy in the whole building shifted, like something big happened. He’s been in his circle, grounding himself and calming me since.”

To Genesis, that was weird, not the invite, the grounding thing. She was getting an up close and personal look at Littlemoon Investigations.

As they walked into the living space, Raven was in a circle of stones, and his shirt was off. The scars down his body were vicious, and Genesis couldn’t help but stare.
