Genesis was curious.

“What if I have some deep dark secret, and I’m going to turn out to be the killer?” Genesis asked.

Tori just smiled.

“I like you. I can overlook a lot—that included. Just no preying on the staff. We have a difficult enough time keeping people.”

Bishop knew Tori was busting ass. They all tended to do just that.

“I’m not sure she’s kidding, Tori. She’s got that serial killer look about her. Maybe she eats people.”

Genesis knew she wasn’t being legit.

“Mmmmm. Tasty. Where’s the fava beans and chianti?” she asked.

Bishop began laughing as they all got out of the vehicle.

Yeah, she’d fit in fine.

The other two women followed, and they reached the door to the morgue.

“So, I have a job?”

Tori nodded.

“We’ll negotiate later if there is something in the packet that you have questions about. We pay well, you’ll have sick and personal time, and we have a laundry list of perks. Plus, you’ll not have to work with an asshole.”

Basically, she was trying to find a partner for Anders. He wasn’t a misogynist. He was just an old school cop.

They might be a good fit.

If not, they’d figure it out.

Tori was honest.

“I want to see how you run a case, and if you can keep making Bishop laugh. That’s my barometer when it comes to hires.”

Bishop snorted.

“You should not be in charge of hiring people. You’re loco. Now we know why Julian keeps you on a short leash.”

Trey couldn’t help himself.

“THAT. IS. HER. KINK,” he offered as Tori’s phone chirped.

His sister wasn’t amused.

Someone was ten minutes in, and already in danger of losing his gambling credits.

“My kink is going to be asking the detective here how she keeps the dead from haunting her. Then, using it to make you very uncomfortable, big, annoying brother who doesn’t know when not to annoy me—despite making a deal and losing his privileges.”

That was all it took.

The phone app went silent.

Good plan.

As they headed in, Genesis did what they wanted. She took over.
