“Really, we came here for a girl’s weekend and nothing more.”

She kept driving.

“Yeah, that’s not the full truth, and we all know it. How about all of it? You’re holding back and if you want my trust, you have to earn it.”

Bishop turned around and glanced at Tori. They’d heard something very similar from Hart when he was truth testing someone.

“We came for the skiing,” she said, leaving most of it out on purpose. “And to gamble.”

That was a lie.

“False,” she said. “On both accounts.”

Bishop began laughing.

That had Genesis’ attention.

“What’s funny?” she asked.

They clued her in.

“We came to plan a wedding and surprise the bride so she could have the wedding of her dreams. Hailey is marrying Bodhi, and he wanted her to have a destination wedding.”

And there it was.

“Okay, that I believe.”

“HART,” Bishop said, clueing Tori in so they were on the same page.

The man was a walking lie detector. She said she was good at reading a room and people, and they were beginning to see why.

That was her psychic gift.

She could read energy like Everhart Rose did.

Interesting.

“We also came because my husband and I are having a rough patch in our marriage,” Tori said, testing her with another lie.

She looked up at her in the mirror and lifted a brow, but didn’t say anything.

It was clear she didn’t believe it.

“You have an interesting gift,” Tori finally said. “We’ve only ever met one other person who has it, and we’ve met our share of psychics.”

Genesis didn’t know what to think about that. She’d always been told by her mother that she was unique, and there was no one like her before. Thus, why she named her Genesis. She was the beginning.

“Really? Someone can read a room? As a cop? Go figure,” she said.

Tori laughed.

Oh, this was a tough one.

Genesis was not going to take shit, much like Hart. The man had that same ‘in your face’ kind of demeanor that went hand-in-hand with his gift.

She told her what she was thinking.

“You’re a walking lie detector, or, if you want the technical part, you read energy. You can detect when someone’s energy shifts, and they lie. We have a PI on our staff who does that. We utilize him a lot.”
