“Uh, office worker.”
Good to know.
She continued.
“The fourth missing person in town was recent. That was a week ago, but I’m not sure if she’s connected or not. I doubt it, but we don’t get a lot of missing people. We’re a tourist town.”
“Who is the recent one?” Bishop asked. “Just give us everything, and let us decide if we can use it or not.”
She shared.
“Her name is Jessamy Lawley. She’s married to…,” but she didn’t have to finish.
One of Tori’s people knew.
“By any chance a man by the name of Cyrus Lawley?” Lucian asked.
They all looked over at him.
“Uh, you know him?” Tori asked.
He actually laughed.
Oh, when he saw the names Julian had given him, he’d done some research when the name rang a bell.
“Hell, no. I know OF him,” he admitted, and then explained. “He’s this sleezy ambulance chaser. I crossed paths with him once on a case years ago when he was just starting out. He began on the East Coast, but then, he headed here. I saw a billboard. It was huge and had his face on it.”
Genesis knew who he was talking about.
“If you need to sue, Cyrus Lawley is your man. Call now, and you can get your big settlement. Don’t be nice. Be rich,” she said, quoting the billboard and commercials.
They were all over the damn place.
Lucian nodded.
“Yeah, him.”
Genesis explained.
“Well, his wife went missing over a week ago, and he’s been all over the city, trying to find her. He’s up everyone’s asses. We’re talking about interviews on the news. Search parties…”
They let her continue.
When she lowered her voice, they suspected they knew why.
“Bethany, is the coast clear outside the door?” Tori asked.
The phone came to life.
“YOU. ARE. CLEAR. THE. COP. RAN. FOR. IT. CAN. WE. TERRORIZE HIM?”
That wasn’t happening.
“No, and please continue, Detective.”
She did.
“His wife…let’s just say that Jessamy’s father is a big wig in law, and he’s filthy rich. The department has been feeling the heat to back off of the man.”
