“Any problems?” Devin asked.
Ian shook his head. “No, sir. The girls are here and getting ready. No one else has arrived yet.”
“Good.” Devin turned to Anna. “Remove your jewelry. All of it.”
Anna stared at Devin, dumbfounded. “But Dev?—”
His eyes flashed with anger. “Here you are not Alex’s wife. You are my Mistress. I don’t want there to be confusion. Take it off.”
Anna sat down on a cushion and slowly removed her bracelet, necklace, and rings. Maggie handed her a silk bag and told her she would put it with her clothing after she changed. “Thank you, Maggie.” She put the jewelry in the bag and handed it back to Maggie, blinking back tears and feeling naked and vulnerable.
Devin stepped behind her and fastened a necklace around her neck like the one she’d worn before she was married. “Maggie, get her changed and then bring her back.”
“Yes, Master.”
The trees above them rustled softly in the breeze as Maggie led Anna toward a sprawling wooden lodge. Sounds of giggles and animated conversations grew louder with each step. The lodge’s large doors were wide open, revealing the slaves from Devin’s Manor. They greeted Anna in unison and she returned their smiles with a tentative one of her own.
Maggie took her into a small room in the back and readied her for the evening Gathering with the usual oils and perfumes. She helped Anna put on a knee-length white dress, sheer as usual, but with an empire waist to hide her belly. The top barely contained her breasts.
Anna returned to Devin’s pavilion and found him lounging on one of the chaises, looking thoughtful. Kaveh and the two other Immortals were there as well. Her pulse quickened and her palms grew clammy.
Devin smiled. “Good, you’re back.” He stood and motioned to the bed in the second, open room of the pavilion. “Lie down.”
Kaveh followed and stood over her like a giant bronze statue as she obeyed Devin. Were they going to have sex with her?
Kaveh sat on the bed and lifted her dress up to put his hands on her belly.
“What are you doing?” She didn’t like the tremor in her voice.
“Checking the baby.” He closed his eyes.
“Why?” A sickening feeling came over Anna as Kaveh smiled, running his hands over her skin.
“Because I have to make sure it is ready.” He opened his golden eyes.
“Ready? Ready for what?”
A grin spread over the Immortal’s face and he arched a brow at Devin. “You did not tell her?”
Anna looked between them, her stomach churning. Something was wrong. Very wrong.
“It was more fun to let her think what she wanted to think.” Devin chuckled.
Her jaw trembled. “What are you talking about?”
Devin fixed his gaze upon her, his eyes devoid of any hint of warmth, sending a chill down her spine that seemed to penetrate deep into her very bones. “It’s not Ben’s baby. It’s Kaveh’s. He impregnated you so I could have it tonight.”
Anna’s eyes widened in horror as he spoke. It couldn’t be true. “No, this is my baby. Mine and Alex’s.” She tried to get up, but Devin grabbed her hands and held her down.
They both laughed. “No, Anna. You are carrying it for me. An Immortal baby is very powerful. Exactly what I need to solidify my position in The Brotherhood.” Devin grinned wickedly. “And I am going to take it from you tonight. You can’t stop me.”
“No!” Anna’s scream pierced the air, and she struggled with every ounce of strength within her to escape. But they were far stronger, their grip unyielding as they held her down.
Kaveh held both of her ankles with one of his huge hands and pulled out his enormous cock with his other. “Some last-minute... infusion, shall we say?” Kaveh opened her legs, holding her knees against her chest so she couldn’t kick and pressed himself inside her body. Deep inside.
Her stomach cramped and she screamed in agony. Every thrust sent pain shooting through her entire body. They held her so tightly, she couldn’t move. She sobbed and begged him to stop, but he ignored her. He moaned and enjoyed himself while she cried.
After he had finished, Anna lay trembling and whimpering. She rolled onto her side, cradling her stomach. Her face was wet with tears, and her heart ached so much she was afraid it would shatter into a million pieces. If Alex had been here, this never would have happened.
