Her brows twitched, but she smiled and extended her hand. Anna took it and politely greeted her.
“Where’s Sandy?” Lily looked pointedly at Devin’s hand resting on Anna’s hip.
“Ill.”
“Really? I spoke with her this morning and?—”
Devin flashed a warning look at Jayce. “I’ll make sure Jayce joins you and the Boswells shortly.”
Lily snapped her mouth shut and glared at her husband before turning on her heel and storming away across the room.
The two men watched her walk away and Jayce turned back to Devin. “You knew there would be questions when you brought her out.”
Devin shrugged. “It’s worth it. They’ll get used to her eventually. You and the others need to keep your wives under control, though, or they won’t help the matter.”
“You know how Lily is?—”
“I do. And I warned you about that before you married her. She’s too independent for you.”
Jayce grinned and shrugged. “You can’t help who you fall in love with.”
Devin glanced at Anna. “That’s true.” He leaned down and kissed her temple.
Anna smiled and looked at the floor, her cheeks warming.
“Ah, Zach is here,” Devin murmured, nodding across the room.
Jayce turned to search the direction Devin had indicated. “With a date?”
“I told him he needed one. He needs to settle down soon if he wants to further his career.” Devin smiled. “Anna is here to show him settling down doesn’t mean settling. If you’ll excuse us, Jayce. I should go say hello.”
“Of course. It was nice to meet you, Anna.”
“Likewise, Jayce.” She gave him a seductive smile as she turned and walked away with Devin.
Devin led Anna toward the side of the room where several young couples stood together talking. “Anna, Zach is the man I spoke to you about earlier. I want you to get him to seduce you. Read him and do whatever he wants. I want him well satiated after he leaves your company.”
“Yes, Devin.”
Devin greeted everyone and introduced Anna.
Zachary Vail was a good-looking, clean-cut man in his early twenties, with dark blond hair and brown eyes. He wore a tailored black suit and powder-blue tie. The woman with him, Patricia, had a bright smile, curly blond hair, and blue eyes. She was slender and looked elegant in a pink, A-line cocktail dress.
“Devin, I need to go freshen up,” Anna said in a soft voice, but loud enough for Zach, who stood next to her, to hear.
Devin nodded, and Anna sauntered away. Glancing over her shoulder, she gave Zach an innocent smile, then turned away, sensually swaying her hips as she made her way around the corner toward the bathrooms. She could feel him watching her and paused deliberately, appearing to search her purse for something so he could catch up with her.
Turning around, she gave a small gasp so he would think she was surprised to see him right behind her. She bit her lip. “Zach, right?”
He nodded and devoured her body with his eyes. “How do you know Devin?”
“I’ve known him all my life.” She gave him her practiced smile. “How do you know him?”
“He’s helping me fulfill my political ambitions.” Zach grinned. “And... other ambitions.” His eyes were intense with desire.
She turned away and walked over to the tall windows. “Devin is a very resourceful man.”
“He is.” Zach followed, stopping right behind her again. “Beautiful view, isn’t it?”
