She stepped away from him. “Leave me alone.”

He followed. “You are mine, Sabrina. You were made for me. You belong to me.”

“I don’t want you.”

The shadow snarled. “Come with me now, or I will kill your beloved.”

Her heart twisted in her chest. The words were simple, but she knew he meant it.

“Please, leave us be.”

The shadow leaned his head back and laughed. “How can I leave you be when you

belong to me? Come with me. Now.”

I will protect Chase. I have to protect him. She shook her head. “I don’t belong with you.

I belong with Chase.”

He reached out and pulled her close, trying to take her in, but she pushed away. She

had a strength she’d not known before and he fell back a few steps.

His face twisted into a sickening grin. “So be it.”
