camp. Richard nodded and gave an encouraging smile.

Damian scoffed. “All the Immortals here came to me by choice.”

Kronos crossed his arms over his massive chest. “Perhaps at first. But that was not enough for

you. You subjugated them as well, though you know very well you cannot truly control the Immortals.

You can only control your own kind.”

“I am not human!”

“But you are, Vamar.” Kronos smiled. “No amount of sacrifices and rituals can remove every

trace of humanity.” He sighed and looked at Sabrina, who stood silently, watching Kronos with

curiosity in her eyes. “Your humanity made you strong, Vamar. That is why Sabrina is so strong and

why you desire her.” He turned to Chase. “Even this man is stronger than you.” He turned back to

Damian. “I would have thought your banishment would have taught you something of that.”

“Your banishment taught me determination and the patience to wait for the right opportunity,”

Damian spat and looked at Sabrina. “Kill him.”

Sabrina’s face turned robotic again and she approached Kronos, fire sword at the ready.

“I may not be strong enough to kill you, but she can. And will.”

As Sabrina approached Kronos, the two Immortals on either side drew swords out of the air, but

Kronos waved them off and produced his own blue-fire-sword. The two guards, as Chase thought of

them, backed away and watched Sabrina, their expressions dark and watchful.

Sabrina struck first and within seconds, their swords were moving so fast, Chase could only see

arcs of blue and gold in the darkness. Their figures were golden lights, but he could only see glowing

shadows. Metallic clangs, high and low-pitched grunts rang out.

They drew near to where Chase lay frozen on the ground and one of Kronos’ guards pulled him

out of the way just in time.

“Thank you.”

The Immortal nodded, staring out across the field at Sabrina and Kronos.

“Who’s winning?” Chase whispered.

The Immortal smiled and put his hand on Chase’s shoulder, and everything slowed down.
