“Exactly.” Richard put his hand on Chase’s back. “We don’t have to be excited about it, or look

forward to it. We do what is put before us with excellence.” He kissed Chase’s head and stood. “I am

so proud of you, my son.”

Chase stood and hugged Richard hard. “Thanks, Richard.”

“Finish your drink, then come to the tent. It is almost time.”

Chase walked into the pavilion a few minutes later and saw a few faces that hadn’t been there the

night before.

“Chase, these are the other Elders that will assist us in the ceremony,” Richard said. “Shaw

Wilson of Britain, Tafari Ware of Ethiopia, Akane Reiichi of Japan, and you know Mateus Flores of

Argentina.”

Chase shook hands with each of them. “We didn’t have enough Elders?” With the German

delegation, there had been ten present.

“We need seven countries represented. Alex has worked with these Elders in the past, and they

were easier to persuade. It also helped that Damian hasn’t had time for Sabrina to seduce all the

Elders. The Germans will stand as witnesses, which is also necessary.”

“Oh.”

Richard motioned to the two women standing near the Elders. “You know Anna. Have you met

Irina?”

Chase nodded in greeting to the tall blonde Russian Elder-Mistress. She stood next to Vlad, cool

and detached.

Anna, however, hugged him hard. “I’m honored to help you, Chase.” She kissed his cheek and

then stepped back to stand next to her husband.

“And of course, Theo and Sebastian.”

The two Immortals nodded a greeting. “We are pleased you agreed to the Elder’s plans,”

Sebastian said with a smile. “It will be a challenging process, but we are confident it will give you

the power you need to defeat the evil one.”

“Thanks.” Chase blew out a breath.

“The Elder-Mistresses will prepare you while we set things up here,” Richard said.
