Alone.
Why was she alone? It was more than the mysterious man leaving. Something was
missing in her heart. Someone was missing in her life.
But who?
She sat up and looked around. The large bedroom looked familiar, like something out of a dream. But
she was awake.
She stood slowly and groaned at the aches in her body. A thought nagged at her mind. She wasn’t
supposed to be here, but where was she supposed to be? She rubbed her face and something
scratched her temple. A ring? A wedding ring?
She was married?
What was going on?
Who was she married to?
Pain erupted in her head so severe, she fell to the floor in a huddle and sobbed.
When her tears subsided, she stood on shaky legs and crept to the door, opening it and peering out
into a long narrow hallway. She pressed against the wall, listening for any sounds.
The house was large and silent. A narrow, dark staircase in the corner of the house went down
several flights and she followed it until she found a dark hallway. Soft light spilled out from behind a
set of large double doors that stood open a few inches. She looked inside and gasped.
Golden light shone from sconces on the walls revealing at least a hundred naked men strewn
across the floor. Sabrina tiptoed inside, afraid they were dead, but their chests moved with breath.
Some were on their backs or sides, but many were sprawled on their stomachs, legs spread. Sabrina
walked to one man and examined a stain on the floor. Blood!
She picked her way around the room and realized that all these men had been violently raped and
must have passed out after.
She backed away but tripped over someone and fell to the ground. The man didn’t move.
She sprinted to the hallway, closing the door behind her.
She swallowed back vomit and continued down the hallway. How had those horrible things
happened? Why?
Someone grabbed her elbow and she screamed.
“Hush, Mistress,” a large man with red hair glared at her. “Do you want to wake the entire
